Okay, don't kill me.

I've been reading a lot, and I've seen a lot of opinions, and I don't want this thread to be stupid BUT:

1.) I'd like to get the Street Unit Hybrid Recirculating/VTA BOV, AFTER I get a Cobb SRI (I'd like the CPE CAI, but there seem to be large puddles here in Baton Rouge occasionally). I've read some haters on BOV's, and I am a newb to cars in general (I mod PC's with wicked overclocks, that's my "expert" speed obsession), so why would this be a good or bad idea? Is the SSQV a better choice? To clarify, I really like that "ssssss" sound, I think it's hot, but I'm not trying to pick up girls or pretend my johnson is a third leg with it. If you think it's not, I don't need to hear that right now, I'm concerned with how this actually affects performance.

2.) The other mods I want to do soon are the TWM SS, a stiffer mount (the dogbone, I think?), some cheesy interior lighting mods (remember I am from geeky computer mods background, so blue LEDs and Cold Cathode get me going), and at the advanced level, some suspension mods and an exhaust mod (I want some throatiness, but again, not "ricer" or like I'm still 18). What other "essential", light mods do some recommend, and more importantly, how does this affect warranty AND insurance? I'm not stupid enough to go to the dealer with a SRI, a BOV, and a Borla exhaust and expect not to be voided, but what if I was in an accident? Would my coverage be void because I have some mods? I ask because geico asked if I have "permanent modifications" on my vehicle, and if I do, to call them...

Thanks to any who assist. Mods, if this belongs elsewhere, please move and overlook my smell of newness (which I imagine is something like fish gone off, or vague sewage, not putrid, just troublesome...)

i also like the sound however. in reciruculation the ecu reads the boost being recirc'd and computes how much gas needs to compensate for the air. if ur not running in recirc it just dumps much more then needed basically. more gas then air (slower) puffs of lots of black smoke. and back firing. i am not the most knowledgeable but thats what i think

You won't convince him. He will end up with the BOV come hell or high water.

I have the Synapse syncronic BOV in full recirc and it is very loud being that its not venting to air. It has a nice clean chhhhhhhhhhhh sound. I couldn't imagine how loud it would be in VTA. So even if you recirc your bov, or even get a bypass valve(forge) not all is lost with hearing the sweet pshhhhh/chhhhh sound.

I have run a few different valves in all different configurations including full vta, full recirc and hybrid. I will tell you that I had no issues with my hybrid valve. It's a turbo xs I think I may end up swapping back to eventually. Gave a satisfying whip crack then pssst sound, but just wasn't loud enough. After some experimenting and getting an outrageous deal on a greddy type-s, ran that in vta for quite some time. I lied to myself about how the car was running, but I was backfiring just about every time I slowed down and it bogged bad when shifting.... and this is after tunning it to run as well as it would. I am running it recirc right now and it runs perfectly. You still get both pitch whistles and air rushing sounds, just no bleed off and its quieter. Friend of mine said wtf you are running vta, I said no, thats a type s in full recirc. he continued cursing and commenting on the nice sound ;)

To make this easy, go with a bypass valve or a blow off you like in full recirc, or a hybrid valve. for you and your car, just please dont use a vta bov.

You, sir, are an ingrate and a liar.

I am going to go with the Forge BPV. I am convinced by the wizardry of others.

Never run a bov in vta.... whatever it is you will fall in love with the sound and it's so hard to go back

Yeah, I had a feeling I would get too into it, so I'm leaning forge and not turbosmart.

Sorry about immature last night; I had just watched the debate, and it rubbed off...

Modding is a drug, it will soon become an addition. (crazy)
