Request for AWR motor mounts install

Will someone please tell me how to install MMs? I am about to order them and i hear some people say its a PITA and others very easy.

Not really hard at all. Put the front of the car up on jack stands on the frame rails. Once it's up, use the jack to lift the engine ever so slightly, there's a flat spot kinda towards the driver's side. It just helps to take some of the pressure off the bolts. Towards the rear, you'll have to bend or cut the little inner tabs off where the stock mount sits, otherwise the AWR one won't fit. I just used a Dremel tool with a cutoff wheel and took the tabs off, others have bent them out of the way. Slide the new mount in place, replace the bolts, and that's it.

A good socket set with a breaker bar works wonders.

This is just for the rear mount, I haven't put a front one in yet.

There's a how-to on the net for installing any motor mount, which is the same. With the AWR you have to bend the tabs that are used to hold the mount in place when the car is being built. Make sure to jack the engine up and hold it while removing the stock mount.

Here's the link for the motor mount install. I can't remember exactly where those clips were, I used a big flat screwdriver to bend them and a mallet to line the holes up. No problems since.

Thanks again. I just discovered the bar that allows you to search all threads instead of just threads from the last month lol. So thats why i didn't find it.

i used a pair of needlenosed pliers to pop the clips back (as noted in my thread, thanks for linking it steve). it was a bit of a PITA, but it worked.

I've even heard of people with a small Dremel attachment cutting the tabs out. To each his own.

That would've worked, too. But bending and prying is always easier (and less permanant) than cutting. I usually only resort to cutting when my biggest hammer/bar can't make something work. Filing/grinding on the other hand...

Geesh, the AWR went right in on the speed3, no cutting or jacking up of the motor.

When you take the mount off the motor, it swings forward a few inches. The mount locks/clips/keys into the subframe mount and the new mount takes some convincing to go back in. Slightly different from the 3, but not complicated at all.

The dead blow hammer came in real handy getting it back in place.

Yes, definitely something I'd recommend for anyone looking to sensibly mod the MS6! You can pick them up from any of the vendors, specifically Ken at PG sells them.
