I received 3.5 inch ETS TMIC yesterday, but I ordered a 3.25 inch. I waited for two months to get it and I don't really want to wait another two months to get the 3.25. I know the 3.5 inch has rubbing problems, but I was wondering exactly what kind of damage this will cause and if there is any way to fix it besides purchasing new motor mounts(even if that stops it from rubbing) Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

My only recommendation besides motor mounts is to possibly trade with someone who wants a 3.5" ... But you will probably lose some money on the deal

Would motor mounts eliminate rub completely? Thanks

have you tried contacting those that sold it to you? Are they obligated to fulfill your order? Give 'em hell!

I'm sure they would have no problem replacing it, but i don't really want to unless i absolutely have to, and i guess i can look at it is almost a good thing because the 3.5" is normally $40 more. If motor mounts will eliminate rub, ill just do that because i was going to at some point anyway.

Motor mounts may not ELIMINATE the rub completly, but it is a huge help. I saw some pics somewhere around here of either a MS3 or MS6 with an upgraded mount that still had some evidence of rubbing, but nothing that I would even be concerned with

Thanks for your help Zimmer and Igve2shtz. Im not sure i understand exactly what rub is and serious problems associated with it. Could someone explain to me exactly what it is?

The rubbing occurs on the black shroud on the underside of the hood. When the hood is closed, and the engine is floored, the engine twists. The 3.5" TMIC doesn't offer the clearance of the stock one, and causes the intercooler to rub against this black shroud.

There were some pictures around the forums but I can't find them now. It was more of a nuisance and an eyesore than an actual problem from what I remember.

i would send it back...the 3.5 doesnt receive the right amount of air with a stock hood...or buy a vented hood
