What can I say, I got in the to take it for a test drive. My sales person said to don't drive crazy, but test drive the car. And I fell in love with it.

The test drive was a cunning trap. I showed up at the dealership to buy a Mazda 3. After they talked me into test driving the Speed6 I went and got my wife to test drive it and could immediately tell by the smile on her face that we were taking it home. :)

I've never regretted it for a second.

I should add that the Speed6 GT was on the top of my list, but it's not what I really planned on buying until I got behind the wheel. The sales guy was cool too, and let me open it up pretty good on some windy back roads. I had test driven a lot of cars over the course of a month and the Speed6 GT really stood out in it's price category. The rest is history.

i almost spun mine. (nervous)

after stalling it out (the clutch is touchy) the sales guy had to jump it, and then i go out onto the roads in February, had snowed earlier, so there was still ice and a bit of snow on the ground. i pull out of the lot, making sure it give it more gas so i don't stall again, and whoops the back end comes about 3/4 of the way around and i'm facing the dealership again...

i bought snow tires with with 150 miles on teh clock (evil)

I went to test drive mine when it was the last one on the lot and they were discounting it. I drove it, and stalled it. I figured that I would get used to it, since it was my first manual I drove. Got it, 4500 miles on it and loved every bit of it. Got an intake sitting at home ready to install in the next few days.

I hadn't planned on getting one, but when the azz-hat ran a red-light and t-boned me in my 05 Legacy GT ... I had to start looking for a replacement car. I couldn't find any good used Legacies here in AZ and happened to come across my speed6 through Craigslist :) Drove up to Payson here in AZ to meet the guy, test drove it, and bought it from him on the spot and then had to take him home :) heh.

My test drive was basically a joke. It was through some residential neighborhoods and then a brief stint on the highway. The MS6 was my one and only choice, so I only did the test drive as a formality, and to check for interior sound levels. Then I bought the car. Then, I began the 150 mile drive home, shifted into 6th, and began merging on the highway. Next time I looked down, I was doing 100. I LOVED how the torque just effortlessly pushed you higher and higher. F*CK Hondas. Horsepower numbers dont thrill me anymore. I need 85% of my torque peak from 2200 rpm on.

I first drove one at the ZoomZoomLive event. I took out 2 cones on the back stretch but put up a pretty good time. Drove it again a few months later when I was getting an oil change for my Protege5. Waited about a year and picked up a dealer demo for $8K under MSRP.

People that have never sat in a Mazda are amazed at the interior and can't believe they've never heard of the Mazdaspeed. Then they are shocked when I tell them it has AWD and a 270HP turbo.

My wife and I started looking at cars to replace her Trailblazer as gas prices kept rising. We both picked out a few cars we liked at Carmax and took her car in for an estimate. My wife test drove a Malibu and looked at a few Hondas but didn't really see anything she wanted. The Carmax happened to have a MS6 Sport so I asked to take it out for a spin. It was the first time I had driven a standard in nearly two years so I took it slow at first. Once I got acclimated to the car I told the salesman and my wife to hold on. I threw all three of us back in our seats and hauled ass down the rode. At that point I was hooked.

We didn't buy the MS6 Sport from Carmax, I found a MS6 GT at a local dealer for 1k less with 10k few miles and jumped on it. Took it for a spin, got them to eat the wifes Trailblazer for the price we wanted and drove home a happy man.

The first time I got into a Speed6 was a car show in Minneapolis. I thought it was very nice looking car from afar. I got closer and started really pondering if this could be my next car. I sat in it and was pleased with the interior. That's when the Mazda guy told me that the production one should look close to the one I was in. I was saddened to here that it wouldn't be out for another year. I told my wife if they ever decided to come out with it that I would buy one, but we all say that at car shows. A few years went by and I totally forgot about it until early this year I started looking for a new car.

It came down to the 06 GTO 400hp/400tq, MS6GT, G35 sedan, Legacy Spec B. The GTO had all the power I could ever want, but it was impractical with a 1 year old and the kind of snow we get up north. The Suby had a lot of body roll and the power didn't compare to the other cars. The G35 was nice, but I always like the coupe way more than the sedan. I then test drove the MS6 and I was in love. It handled tight turns at high speeds great and the motor put out just enough power to keep me happy. I test drove 3 different MS6's total to be sure and every time I just walked away wanting it more and more. I love this car even with the touchy clutch.

Driving my 04 STI to the dealership back in 06, I got behind the wheel for a test drive, and it felt like got into a BMW when you compare the noise ,the ride, and the overall feel. Other then the clutch engagement which the TSB eventually fixed, I felt like I was driving a more expensive car, because the overall cosmetics were simply superior compared to my 04. the incentives, high demand for my 04 and awesome trade, and that test drive sold me so fast.

For pure enthusiasts this might not be a good feeling, but for me with my commute to work, it was the best damn trade I ever made. :)

I guess I could go into a little more detail.

I had been wanting a new car to get out of our SUV, and just couldn't afford it. I heard from a friend that Mazda was having huge deals with the MS6 going on (which I had been in love with since I first saw pictures of it). Went and talked to the dealer and found out the Sales Manager was the old sales manager at a different Mazda dealership I got my MSP at. We hit it off he told me what was going on with pricing, no fighting threw everything on the table and didn't bullshit me. Went home and told me wife about it and she was cool with it to check out. I got lucky one of my buddies had some special pricing plan he got from being on the Mazdaspeed program. Asked the Sales Manager if we could us it. He said sure.

The sales lady and I took the car for a drive, I backed it up, put it in 1st (what I thought was first) and stalled the car. Started it back up, got it moving, got to the stop sign and realized I had the car in 3rd not first. Took for a good test drive, she had me get on it on the highway pretty good, test the brakes (she said slam the brakes so I did.)

They put the numbers and told me to come by the next day for the payments from Mazda. Showed up the next day (early Saturday morning) and the price was a little higher then I was expecting, but the dealer honestly did everything they could with the numbers to get them down. Told them I would have to talk to my wife. Went home and woke my wife up and told her no go, the car was going to be more a month, I went back downstairs and let her go back to sleep. 10 minutes later she comes down all dress (she works friday nights at the time so she never got up that early), I asked her what was going on, and she said we were going to go get my car. I've been in love with my car ever since, and further proved the love I have for my wife.

Last November, after a little incident involving catastrophic engine failure due to a faulty timing belt/tensioner in my 1999 VW Passat 1.8T, that put the car out of commission for three months, it left a bad taste in my mouth. I've always been a big German car fan (when I say big, I mean I'm 6'9" tall and will fit into what I can), owned and driven my fair share of Audi/VW/BMW.

Despite not having a car payment (ftw!), I was continually having problems with my rebuilt 1.8T, so I began looking for a fast, reliable, manual, 'grown-up' AWD car I could fit in for around $15k.

The Impreza WRX's, 2007 at the time, were too small and ugly as sin. They're known for reliability/value/speed but at the same, they're kind of cheap on the inside. The Spec B's were out of my price range at $26-$28k
Everyone's got an EVO in PA and they hold their value around $22k.

The Audi/BMW route gave me a 2 yr old car w 50+k miles on the clock, pre-owned certified for about $22k-$24k aaaand I'd still be slow. Mmm,nah.

So my good friend who works at a local dealership, usually trying to push crappy cars on me(he's a Pontiac/Mustang guy...blah), calls me with a silver Mazdaspeed6. I didn't know what it was at the time. I had heard of Mazdaspeed before, but was unaware they made a 6. My VW was silver, eh, was shooting for black/dolphin grey. One Google search later....turbo4, AWD, clean looks and updated interior, I was on my way out to the dealer straight after work.

When I got there, they had it detailed and under the lights. Every inch of 'my' car was perfect...until I looked inside. WHITE and blk leather interior LOL. Are you kidding me? I said. My buddy's cousin, finance major sl00t pal, rolls up to watch my back and make sure I didn't do anything stupid.

"Expensive tires", she said. "Those big brakes, I don't want to know how much that job will cost.."

[Right now I'm thinking, yesss...those brakes are BIG! and the black headlights are t33ts..hhahaha]

Then she said, "Oohh wht/blk leather interior, you will pull some girls with that!"

That didn't sell me, but a test drive on the highway and a 1/2 pack of cigarettes later, it was mine.

Unfortunately, for the sales guy, I had left my 'moist' sweaty funky ice hockey equipment in the trunk of the VW from the night before. I told him it would be bad, and it was. Haha. They gave me what I wanted for the B5 18t monster so I didn't really care. Took it home with 10,500 mi on the clock. Got stuck in the snow the 3rd day. Dropped $700 on new tires the same week I bought the car...that was a fantastic start, I thought.

Months later, I'm still adjusting to the clutch and the white leather is a pain but is still growing on me. Might take it out for it's first auto-x run next weekend.

So I was at college and my speed 6 was sitting 5 hours away waiting for me. I finally take my volvo home and turn it in (leased). I step into my speed 6 for the 1st time. Turn it on. Push the clutch , stick it in reverse, stalled so hard I think I messed up a disk in my back. Time to learn how to drive stick :)

Honestly I was kinda expecting more power, lol. The creature comforts is what sold me. I love the car, I'm very happy with the purchase.

I come from the v8 rwd world so it's odd not having a lot of low end off the bat, I love the car though. I originally was going to buy and Evo....but like I said the creature comforts sold me on this car.

I had a '99 Miata 10th Anniversary Edition that initially I thought I wanted to keep and supplement with a daily driver type vehicle. Even put a $500 deposit down to order a new '09 Honda Fit. When the Honda dealer got their first Fit in and started offering test drives, I checked it out and didn't really like it. I didn't ask for my $500 back right then but left the dealer with the distinct impression that this was not going to be the car for me.

I then realized that keeping my Miata was a bad idea as I was going to need to replace the radiator and convertible top pretty soon. I spent all kinds of time shopping for all kinds of cars but the Speed 6 kept popping in to my mind ass something affordable, relatively new, practical, great in winter and still pretty damn entertaining.

The closest examples to me were 100+ miles away but yesterday I drove down to Oak Lawn IL to trade in my Miata on my '06 MS6 GT. I got more than I owed on the Miata and knowing what a ticking time bomb of expenses it was I'm glad I got out of the car. I was sad to see go because it's been a really fun car for me, but now 1 day later I don't regret my decision in the least. This MS6 is pretty entertaining, way more useful, and I can always buy more idiotic roadsters in the future.

Lot of you guys coming from a vw to a speed... I also had a vw Jetta gli lagoon blue great car loved ever minute of it... but for some reason i got the bug for a two seater and started looking around, found a 2004 Black chrystler xfire with black and red leather interior! Took it home about two weeks later i was miserable in this car (sad2) i love sedans, so i went looking again! drove 2 houre to atlanta to a mazda / saab dealer looking at a 9-3 aero loved the car really fun to drive... when i was pulling back in the parking lot noticed two mazda 6 sedans that just looked different then the rest so i stopped to look! A red and black 2006 mzpd6 (thumb) no idea what that car was! So i took the black one for a drive loved it except i was not having another black car, so we went inside to discuss pricing there on the showroom floor was another 2006 wwp speed6 gt that one was mine. The 07 speeds were out so the 06 speed were 30% off! It was saturday night so two days later i went to pick it up, bought it right off the floor never even drove it! On the way home i just sat in the drivers seat and smiled for the entire 2 hour drive with the music up loud!

I just got my Titanium Gray '06 MS6 just 2 days ago!

I had actually come close to purchasing one on several occasions, but was having trouble finding one in good shape. Some were obviously abused, some had horrible road rash, or less-than-nicely kept interiors. Over the last year or so, I have driven 6 or 7 Speed 6's and just could not find "the one".

I really loved my '04 RX-8 (got it for a steal, and under warranty) but recently had a brand new baby boy, and I live in Colorado--sooo.... not the best car for me any more! Started looking into more family-appropriate cars without giving up too much in the giggle department (just 'cause you're a dad, doesn't mean you can't have fun)!

I was looking at TSXs and TLs, Legacys, Audis, the whole gambit, when I saw this Speed sitting on the lot. Got a closer look at it, and it was just about perfect! I took it to a good friend of mine who is a mazda tech...he checked it out over the course of a few hours, and told me :"This is by far the nicest used Speed6 I have ever seen." I agree, as it just seemed to pull harder than all the others I had driven, and didn't have a bunch of rattles and squeaks...beautiful paint, etc.

Still lots of warranty left, and since I had tons of equity in the RX-8, the numbers worked beautifully. Got the gap, extended bumper-to-bumper and my payment actually went down!

So, I sold it to my wife as a family car :"look how easy it is to get the carseat in and out honey!" and "It's AWD honey--much better in the winter!".
"It gets better MPG than the RX-8 too!"

I have yet to actually dip into the boost with her in the car lol!

My 00 Civc was paid off about 2yrs ago. I loved that car and practically ran in into the ground. When the clutch and syncros started to go...again, I figured it was time to look around. Ive always known about the Speed6 but figured it was out of my range. When I started to look at new cars I thought I wanted a VW GLI. Due to my crap credit I thought Id be stuck with the Honda for the forseeable future. On a whim I called Carmax to find out if I could qualify for financing and guess what... Ended up talking to a salesman over the phone and told him to ready the GLI and that id be there in an hour.

Rolled up to the dealership, walked in and my baby was sitting right there in the showroom as is fate was giving me a healthy bitchslap. I told the salesman Id be test driving the Speed first. After a white knuckle test drive in which the salesmans spincter contracted so tightly you couldn't pull out a greased b.b. with a bulldozer, I had him popping blood pressure pills like Skittles.... and I fell in love.

After working out the numbers I figured out that the downpayment would leave my bank account uncomfortably low, and being in an all commission field thought the risks outweighed the benefits, i left the dealership in my shitbox, dejected with love in my glazed over eyes.

I told myself that as soon as I goosed my bank account abit more Id go back and buy it. But I figured that by the time that happened my baby would be cheating on me and sleeping in a strangers garrage. Especially since it was such a steal... it was an 06 loaded minus Nav with only 5k on the odometer, shrink wrap still on the door sills and priced at 20k!!!

Alas, FOUR WEEKS, a huge commission check, and FOUR hours at the dealership later she was in my driveway and the object of envy by all my salivating neighbors.

Did I mention they gave me 1700 in trade for my shit box with a bad clutch, shot syncros, 150k on the odomeeter and not one boy panel untouched by collision repair.... it was meant to be.

The first day on the ride to work I had some dude pull up next to me and seriously say "dude, ya know that car is fast as hell" no shit bra.

After relaying the story to my coworkers we took to affectionately calling her the "Red Rocket".

Nice!! On my test drive I tooled around surface streets for a minute, and being unfamiliar with the area, I asked the salesman where the closest on-ramp was. I got some B.S. from the guy about not going on the highway, i kinda muttered "ok your funeral" under my breath, downshifted and mashed the gas. Those little veins on his temples promptly started to bulge.

Strange, but I didn't see my car untill it was time to drive it home, I walked into the dealership sat with the manager and agreed on numbers, then i told him to get the loan approved,I left and went home, next morning he calls me and said your approved, so I had my wife dropped me off at the dealership signed the paper work and drove to work, praying not to get any stone chips on the highway. When I got to work my boss came out and took my car for a lap across town, he liked it, only complained I didn't get a GT.

Was in the market for a new car seeing that my g/f blew up her Pontiac GrandAm GT. I own two Infiniti G20's, one heavily modded, one lightly modded daily driver. I gave her the DD and went looking for a new ride. I test drove a white MS6 with 20k miles on her. I knew the salesman so I was going to get a decent deal at around 18 grand for it. I figured I would be really impressed by it, and I was, but the car is more refined than I needed. I'm really drawn to a car that is a bit more basic. Has really good performance, stiff handling, more of a ruff around the edges car. Now the MS6 would of been nice for my hour and half commute to work, but when it came down to it I just couldn't pull the trigger and went with a MS3 sport.

Bottom line the car just never gave me a rush and with the questionable AWD, like I said I just couldn't pull the trigger. Not that the AWD is bad, but for a car that was only made for one year and it was a new AWD system I had my concerns.

A great GT or sport tourer, but just not enough punch for me.

I was an owner of a 04 M6 5spd with many mod's. I Loved the car. When I heard that Mazda had Turbo Charged it, I just had to check it out. I went to the dealer I worked at and got the key from a friend, my brother in-law was with me and we took on the highway, let me just say; he needed a new pair of underwear by the time we got back to the dealer. I was able to work out a great deal and off I drove, GREAT CAR!!!
