Has anyone seen the article on the MS3 in the nov '08 issue of Import Tuning?
They do various dyno pulls with simply bolt-ons (no tuning) first baseline, then after Fujita CAI, Vibrant exhaust & Corkspot downpipe. Gains were good. They left the cats stating this needs to be street legal for their test & mentioned ambient air temperature really adversely affecting the cars performance on the dyno.
I am not sure I agreed with the baseline dyno. I've seen most others I think run 220 whp not 246 whp? But hey if 246 whp is true I hope my speed is running that.

Since Import tuner is in Cali they probably kept it that way on purpose witht eh cats (has been heard ot be a fine close to 3 grand if wanted to be)
They usually use the saem shop and dyno for all there cars. IF the car has some mles they will do a tune up first and tell you. They will give all conditions and if its a diffrent day. they try to do it as close to the same figures as before.
Cool they finally put one in there. Now for someone to get one in an article. The only mazdas they know are RX-7 fd, maybee an FC, and sometimes miatas.

"Unleashing the EVO killer... Find out which '08 import platform posted higher baseline power numbers than the EVO X -- while retailing for $11,000 less -- and how best to drop a grand on making it even faster."
Directly from Import tuners website.... Hmmmm, I wonder what they're saying over at evolutionm.net, Hahahahaha!!!!

I've never read their magazine before. My buddy has an evo and he reads it and pointed me to the article. I was wondering how legit they are. I'll have to check out their website.

I've noticed this too. On several "regular" summer days(+120ºF), the car felt quick, but I felt it wasn't pulling strong enough anymore, I was torn between it being me getting used to the car and something seriously starting to go south. A few cool days courtesy of a lot of rain and I noticed the car pulling as strong as before.
I cant wait for my "winter" (with lows in the 40s) :)

I feel your pain. Out in Las Vegas it get +110*F and gets around 30's here.

I'm curious to see how it performs in the winter also. My turbo civic would always feel quicker in the cold weather.

Comparing 2 whp to 4 whp is like apples to oranges.

Doesn't the EVO weigh more than the MS3?

They are probably saying "wait till we get to a corner" haha. Iam actually looking at the article as I type this. Baseline stock: 246.6hp, +Fujita CAI: 255hp, + Vibrant cat back: 267hp, +Corksport DP: 273hp. All in all +26.5hp and +30.5 ft/tq for $1,300. Personally I think they should have added a FMIC to the test as well. Cant wait for Cobb's exhuast, willing to bet their setup will yield even more power than the misc. parts.
