I got my head back from the shop and am reinstalling it. Got the head on but when installing the cams, I torqued the cap bolts to 100 in lbs (per how-to on the site) and snapped 2 bolts. Got them out the head, but now I cant find any replacements! Where can I buy these camshaft cap bolts at? And is 100 in lbs the correct torque?

did you just go all out 100lbs/ft or do 50 lbs then 75 lbs then full torque? i learned to not just go all out full torque, but to build up to it

Tried. No go. Dont have a bolt as strong as the needed bolt.

Yea, that was probaly my mistake. I went straight to 100 in/lbs. (smash). As for now, they are all on there carefully hand torqued. I dont feel safer going any further than that. Should be good I think. I hope.

And I finally found some. Called a trillion places and the only place is the factory. Even took the lady at the stealership forever to find them. 3$ a bolt and a week to deliver. Guess the car will sit another week. That will make almost a month out of commission.. GRRRR.

sorry i never torque to the spec's, but hey I am ghetto like that. I tighten until i think that it is tight enough and it usually works for me, that sucks though dude. i would take it to the auto parts store i figure that would work better than trying to order online, at least it will be easier to return the parts if they dont match up.

there is a reason bolts are tq'd to a certain spec...

in an engine, its imperiative everything is to spec, because it was designed to be that way...

Sounds like you better go to the "evil" dealership.

And is it 100 in/lbs or 100 ft/lbs? BIG difference!
