View Full Version : CP-E Short Ram Intake, in development....

I received this response to a call I put into CP-E regarding short ram intakes:

"Hello, we spoke on the phone the other day and you asked me if we were going to design a short ram intake for the Mazdaspeed vehicles. In the past the company owners weren’t too keen on creating one of those products, but the demand for them has been tremendous. I think the owners see this, and I believe that we will be producing a short ram intake in the near future. If you can give me about a week I think I can give you more information about pricing and availability. Thanks for you interest in our products, and please do email me again if you’d like more information about the upcoming short ram."

Get excited? YES!

It would be hilarious if they got a SRI out to market before Cobb fixed their issues....

hopefully its cheaper than the HKS unit.

copperkid

It will definitely be less than their CAI. Let’s just hope it’s competitively priced with the Cobb SRI.

If they can pull this off they will attract a good part of those customers waiting on back ordered Cobb SRI's.

LOL the irony.

09-24-2008, 10:53 PM
actually for a SRI $255 is kind of steep. Thats as expensive as almost any CAI in the market. but considering that it is the only option available for now i would still buy it. im dying to see the cp-e sri. CP-E MORE DETAILS PLEASE!!

I'm going to guess it will come in at $200-$230 given the quality of cp-e products. I hope they have diferent color options.

Did you discuss the possibility of a box?

nighthawk358
09-25-2008, 10:54 PM
nope..didnt mention the box in the email. but i highly doubt it that they will be working on a box any time soon since they are working on the standback v3.

the only reason im going with the sri and not the cai is because im afraid of hydrolocking and i live in a very tropical place (puerto rico). it would suck to see my baby drowned, if not i would have gotten their cai no question about it.

anybody have their CAI in red?? i'd like to see that setup

I know what you mean. It floods bad here in vegas after a hard rain. We even get flash floods.

CP-e is posting in their "saloon and store" section elsewhere that they hope to have some "shorties" for sale in a couple of weeks. They are flow-testing and will post pix as soon as the prototype is ready. Only color option is powder-coated aluminum but maybe some different color silicon choices. No response yet to questions about price. I don't imagine they can do much about price until they finish a prototype.

Are you stupid or something? The Cobb sells for $175 , if the HKS is $250, what is the HKS costs over the Cobb? $75(hand)

Pics of the prototype. Yes, the crankcase breather nipple will be added to the final product. Should be around $200, give or take.

You are now the official biggest douchebag on the forums. Where do you get off taking that insulting tone towards people? Don't be such a little self righteous prick.
a) Depending on where you purchase the intake would determine the price difference.
b) Where in his post did Kain claim that: i) He found the pics ii) The pics were his?

Thanks for the pics Kain, that filter looks good, and now I will anxiously wait for the release.

The guy from CP-E Said on another forum that it owuld be initally offered at a reduced price...People are going to be lining up for this freakin thing. COBB is about to get hammered by CP-E. Lets hope they make enough to meet demand. Maybe they will do what COBB did though and come up way short and watch the price of their intakes skyrocket?

Looks like a very well made piece thus far...Not sure about how I feel about the metal part being there as that will surely conduct heat but who knows...Are they making a heat shield for it as well? Oh, and the air straigtners look much more solid than whats on the Cobble sri.

it will be compatible of course. although cp-e has said it's pretty low on their development list.

unless they start seeing a lot of people ask for it. then they will move it up.

My understanding is that a SRI is only of any benefit if your stock airbox is restrictive/unable to flow sufficient volume of air. So is the stock airbox restrictive?

According to COBB, our stock airbox is the most restrictive they have ever come across.
