saw one today, it was a 2.3 hatch (that weird purplish-grayish color) and it had the "mazdaspeed" chrome emblem under the "2.3"s up front, and on the right side of the hatch opposite "mazda3".
i stopped right next to her and i wonder what she was thinking when she looked right at me, and then eyed over my car.
i wish i coulda taken a picture but the stop was quick and i ddin't get next to her again. has anyone had any similar sightings?

Nothing that drastic. I have been chased down by modded mz3's either wanting to just look at my car and 1 or two wanting to play. None with Speed badging though.

Not with the chrome emblem, but shortly before I got my car I do remember seeing a newish red mazda3 sedan, with some small (and well made, in all honesty) white Mazdaspeed vinil logos. It had one on each side and in the trunk, placed in a similar way to the one you describe.
Now, as I mention, I still didn't have my car, but I was already in the final stages of buying, and I knew well enough a ms3 sedan was just out of the question.
Had I already owned my speed, I would have liked to see what his reaction was to seeing a real one.
I think the important question is: was she hot?

LOL, no kidding and should you have been offering her a ride in a real speed? You can get nice mazdaspeed stickers from the dealership or the Mazda website. There are also a couple vinyl guys on the forum that will make you some for cheep.

I had Mazdaspeed all over my Miata...and it wasn't the Mazdaspeed version.
Mazdaspeed pays contigency money if you plaster your car with Mazdaspeed vinyl...though you have to buy their vinyl kit and badge the car according to their requirements.
But I assume any "street" car with a chrome Mazdaspeed badge on their 2.3L EFI is a poser!!!!
Mazdaspeed vinyls on a regular (non-Mazdaspeed) Mazda vehicle is OK.

It's like putting a NISMO sticker on a Nissan...yes, they probably wish they owned a MS3, but it also is just the motorsports division of the company, not model specific, or factory Mazdaspeed specific...I don't see it as "wannabee" just promoting the motorsports division of the brand you love...
If they put that lame "turbo" sticker on the 2.3 N/A, then I would have a problem...

Hell I wouldnt mind putting more mazdaspeed badges on my car if they would pay sponsorship or give a great discount on their parts, oh wait they dont make anything for the ms3...

The CAI has been on a stop sale since late March. I was just being a bit bitter because I bought mine as soon as they stopped selling the cai and just wish they would sell some more parts. I think they do a short shifter too? Their prices are just too damn high.

it's really the non-subtlety of it that makes it so bad. if one replaced the "mazda3" with the "mazdaspeed" on the back hatch it would be subtle and most ppl shy of enthusiasts may not notice the difference. but the fact that "mazdaspeed" was on the right side of the hatch, and under both "2.3"s in the front was just rediculous. try to imaging any other car with that many redundant chrome emblems from the factory

Unless you have a factory Mazdaspeed the only justifiable cause for putting a badge is if you have the "speed" to back it up... Other wise its just stupid, advertising that your car is fast when its really not...
Ooh ooh, I love when people ask for feedback (like the OP wanting to know if anyone had "similar sightings") and nearly every other post in the thread completly opinion based.
First, out of respect, I'll answer your question. I haven't seen anything like that with Mazdas out my way (Raleigh, NC).
With that being said, here are my opinions:
<opinions>
I don't think you are a poser until you start trying to make a base model car look like one of the upper trim level models. This goes for V6 mustangs with 5.0 emblems, Mazda3s with "mazdaspeed3" badging, etc.
Adding three "mazdaspeed" badges is just bad taste.
Adding vinyl to any car is rice...unless it's a track car.
Adding ANY emblems (maybe a "MPS"...hey...I said maybe) to our cars is just pointless.
Obama is going to win. :)

Yeah at least the regular 3 is a pretty decent performing car to begin with. Really the only major thing it’s lacking is the power plant. The differences between a regular Lancer and the Lancer Evolution however are astronomical from a performance standpoint.

Test drove a regular three and knew exactly where the turbo boost should have kicked in (instead there was, well, not much power) - thus why I chose the MS3.
I have not seen non-MS cars with MS badging around here. That said, I have seen non-M BMW's with M badges and non-AMG Mercedes-Benz's with AMG badges --> I'm sure MS posers exist. I think it's tacky when ppl put them on, but the only time it would truly bother me is if a dealership jacked up the car's price because the badging was false advertisement.

You people are making something out of nothing. Mazdaspeed Sports and Development make hundreds of Mazdaspeed parts for Miatas, MZ3s, MZ6s, etc. My Miata track car has Mazdaspeed logos all over it. Am I "posing"?
Mazdaspeed existed long before the MS3 and MS6, so get over it. If a guy/girl puts a Mazdaspeed short shifter/exhaust/sway bar/suspension on their MZ3 they are fully entitled to display the Mazdaspeed badging - chrome or not!(hi)

...uhh I think you missed my point entirely, if you have a modded car that has the performance to warrant such a badge then go ahead stick a badge on... I just think its somewhat ludicrous and stupid for say a stock 3 to go around sticking mazdaspeed emblems on...

I still prefer sleepers. A friend of mine used to auto-x a seriously modded E36 M3. Just for giggles he removed the ///M3 badge and replaced it with a German market 316d badge. Several months later European Car published a letter from a clueless doofus asking where he could buy a 316d like the one he saw that set FTD at a local SCCA event...

this thread is stupid...i mean..alot of people put sport20 on their car yet its still a p5 or a sedan wit a conversion..do they have awd? nope. so to each their own. if they wanna put mazdaspeed stuff on their car, let them. who cares? just kick their ass if they try to race u..
without stupid logos, what will we put in our ricer thread??
o btw..i was thinking of putting mazdaspeed on my car too cause i got a mazdaspeed exhaust. doesnt give much "speed" but its still a mazdaspeed part.

The difference between nismo 350z and a regular 350z aren't nearly as drastic(Same powerplant, etc) a say a N/A Mazda 3 and a Turbo Charged Mazdaspeed3. When some douche advertises Mazdaspeed3 emblems on a regular 3 it's GHEY X100

The regular 3's can actually make more power than the mazdaspeeds right now. Out the box we rule, but until we can get past this DI stuff, they will eat us up in the long run.

Direct injection is the #1 reason the MS3 is so powerful...makes it more difficult to modify aftermarket, but direct injection cools the cylinders dramatically letting you raise the boost...
I'm confused as well as to why you would think this was the case...
Direct injection is FTW..

Personally, I would rather de-badge than advertise. It's more fun to be UNDER-estimated. I think people put that stuff on their NON-MS products in an attempt to get ppl to think their car is special.
Of course, this is coming from a guy who once put a V6 badge on a 91 Civic LX...4dr....AT...then cut off the muffler and installed a resonator-tip....who later lost a stop-light race to a FAT woman (400lbs?) driving a turbo Chevy Sprint.... :(
