Well...I went to the track today and upon the first launch I heard an awful loud bang that sounded like it came from the front driver's side wheel area. (scratch)
It scared the shit outta me so I didn't make another pass. (nervous)
Anyone have an idea what it may be? Where is the diff mount located? Could the bolts be loose or snapped? When I drove it spiritly on the street on the way home I didn't hear the noise again.
I alread have the rear mount. How many engine/tranny/diff mounts are there and are there upgraded mounts available?
I'm going to jack her up tomorrow morning to see if I can find anything wrong.
I want to get this resolved so I can go back and get some times.
Thanks for the help.
BTW....could this just possibly be wheel hop?

wait, you didn't pop your hood at all before you went home?

Yes I did.
Didn't see anything amiss so I drove it home.
Not sure where the tranny/diff mount is.
Is it visible from the top?

They had just prepped the track. I was about the 5th or 6th car to run after the prep.

probably just wheel hop, you have anything in your glove box.

well not really...
the tranny mount or as most people call it a rear engine mount, is located underneath. but if it were a side mount, then maybe you could see it from the top. your trz poly is what people are calling a rear mm. it is the mount for the tranny though...
otherwise, idk what the problem is

The same thing happened to me when i was messing around i had a really good hard 1st gear pull with a really crisp shift and I heard the same loud noise. My buddy was following me and said nothing fell off and we popped the hood and looked at the mounts and everything was still there. The car only had like 400mi at the time. since then i have not had that happen at all.

they just preped the track thats when its the stickiest... whell hop is my guess. and the mount thats closeest to that is the recalled mount which is under the battary box. what mods if cai something could have hit the tube.

I need to check this mount.
I have the Cobb SRI.
How the hell do I get the wiring harness on the side of the battery box loose. I tried but couldn't figure out how the snaps come loose.
I know it was wheel hop but I've experienced wheel hop in my SC stang and it was never this violent. I need to check the mount for reassurance.
If it is busted wouldn't it give symptoms while romping on it on the street?
