New to the boards here. This is my 2nd Mazda that I have owned, first was an old 1987 Mazda 626 GT. Picked up my 2009 Mazda 6 yesterday and so far love it, went from a single turbo Supra to a brand new car and couldn't be happier.

from the looks of it.... it's the Mazda6 i. Did you get manual or auto tranny?

It is the mazda 6i Sport or whatever of the 18 trim levels Mazda likes to have. There were only 5 on the lot I got it from and all were autos unfortunately so I settled.

First impressions so far are great, but mind you I am going from a 1989 supra to a car that is 2 decades newer so take my thoughts with a grain of salt.

The stock sound system has some amazing sound to it. I like the placement of all the controls. If I had to get really picky I would say the only thing that was an annoyance was the positioning of the dimmer dial for the gauges and such.

I will post up some more pics once I get into work in about 30 mins. And yes I have to agree that the front on-look of the car resembles the RX-8 with the wide flaring which rocks.

Now time to find some nice rims for it and such.

P.S. I like the red lights on the gauges but damn I wish I could switch them to blue.

is the sound system still a bose? Man you should have went to another dealer or waited. I went with my GF and her friend because they wanted to check out the new mazda6s... and I drove the i and the s models, I hate that the v6 doesn't have manual but I drove the 6i in manual and that thing was pretty damn sweet.

I also got to take out the new rx-8, and that baby is sweet too, but i wouldn't give up my MS6 for it, it's not fast enough :P

Congrats on the car and welcome to the forums, you're gonna love it.

I think it may be the Bose system, but would have to double check. I wish I could have waited but I had sold my Supra already and was borrowing friends cars to get to/from work so had to make the sacrafice.

Ah, ok that's understandable being in a desirable need to have a car ASAP. If it's a Bose system it should have a "BOSE" somewhere on the speakers on one of the doors or in the rear of the car.... that's usually how Bose does their stuff.

What year Supra were you driving an 80's? I couldn't imagine going from that to a Mazda6, doesn't seem there is much comparison :(

Was driving a 1989 single turbo supra. I loved it, but after the 2nd engine rebuild getting rod knock due to a machinest not checking the proper clearances I decided to get out of it. More headache than reward.

go on your own time I was already there with myself the woman and her friend. and yes they don't know anything at all. The guy was trying to tell my GF that the Mazda6i had basically the same engine as her car, and I had to laugh and inform him that first, she has the 3.0 v6 and 2nd there are enough changes from the 2.3L MZR to the 2.5L to make it not "basically" the same engine.

The new Mazda6s (v6) was nice, but the lack thereof of a shifter had me wishing it was manual. and for only .7L difference over the old 3.0L v6 the mileage was kind of disappointing.
