Hi!

Is there a notable difference in Blow-off Valve sounds between varying brands? Is one louder or higher pitched compared to softer and lower? What is the suggested BOV used on here? I am looking for the loudest... If there is a difference!

Thanks!

From using and seeing different setups, I can tell you a few things.....

When using an intake, you will get some bov sound. Do that first. If you want more, you can install forge bpv (by pass valve) to get a clang, although some people say that goes away.

hybrid valves work well to give you sound without compromising how your vehicle runs. the turbo xs gives you a whip cracking psshhh sound as it uses 2 smaller holes for the blow off. The adjustable turbosmart valve is favored for being adjustable 100% recirculated to 100% vta or anything in between. This one gives almost a vta sound even when 50/50.

vta bovs (vent to atmosphere blow off valves) really cause our cars to run like shit. I was in denial because I liked the sound ;) The HKS and GReddy type-s whistles and clangs carry really well so you will be noticed easier. A lot of these you can put in recirculation mode so you can run it without issues. I have the greddy type s like that right now and its still plenty loud. The GReddy type-rs will give you a whoosh rush of air sound which is very nice in vta, I just don't know how good that will sound recirculated.

Being a musician and music teacher, I have a strong affinity for the sounds my car makes and have done an over excessive ammount of research on blow off valves. If you have any more questions, post up or pm me.

I'll be getting the CPE CAI first, and then I'll see. I like the Forge BOV because it is by far the cheapest, but I also understand that the Turbo XS is really nice (for twice the money...) I guess I'll have to see.

Thanks for the info on the GReddy and HKS.... I thought GReddy RS looked good, but I think I'll pass... Thank you!

I like the sound on my Forge BPV and, yes, the price is awesome.

Forge always has a great product at a great price. But you can get the turbo xs hybrid or the greddy rs for under $200. The type s you will need to buy used. For either greddy you also need to buy an adapter plate though, and maybe reicrculation fittings or recirculation tube plugs. The only issue I see with the turbosmart (what I originally wanted) was that it is $400.....
