So i just ordered a Cobble SRI from SU and got an e-mail saying that it was on a worldwide back order.... and that it would take about 8 weeks for it to get to me....
i am a little put off on this, but i guess this means i will be doing my build when winter is upon us here in Canada, so next summer i will be faster and meaner then when i put her away for winter...
Now the question.
any problems with the SRI? how about running the SRI with any products, does it get in the way of a FMIC or anything else?
Cheers

I thought it would be worth the wait, too, until they told me yesterday that it would probably be christmas time before I got it. (I ordered mine from SU on July 7)
Oh well

That's odd, I'm raced several other MS3 with CAI's and have never been beaten.

The system does that because he's got his Caps Lock key on. If it didn't we would be reading that all in capital letters.

they show 26whp, fairly close to 30.

Probably. It also makes it hard as hell to read, so I just gave up.
On topic... that is a really long wait. I feel like I am going to be forced to run the HKS setup. Shitty that it costs 100 more than the cobb, and the filter is not as good (apparently).

Well, my local ms3 club has dyno'd similar numbers....and its right in line with most other vehicles....CAI produces roughly 7-10% power increase on turbo cars, which is about 20-26hp. Cobb dyno's at around 15whp, so your saying we shouldn't believe that either? Guess all these parts are just BS

No 15 is about right. As well as a real dyno like CP-E, shows a 16hp increase. So you're telling me that an intake with the incorrect maf housing, no air flow straightener gets almost double? sorry but I HIGHLY doubt it.

might get 29 with a cat-back (maybe), downpipe-back and yes I can see 30-35.
And yeah I posted a dyno from a manufacturer, but other people have proven the 15 or 16 hp. I just don't like to see mis-information being spread, the internet is already full of it.

Different DYNO's!!! Cobb does their test on a F'n MUSTANG DYNO@ ELEVATION Of course it's going to read lower.

its measuring the difference between baseline and after the part is installed, has little to do with the amount of peak hp...aka, doesn't matter what dyno. You measure the difference between runs. And the only reason AEM/Mazdaspeed/Injen CAI's have made such power is because they don't run the stock MAF size (injen does actually). This causes the engine to run slightly leaner (mechanical tuning) and creates additional power. The CP-E CAI, which has both correct MAF size and air-straightener actually runs RICHER than stock, hence the lower hp readings from their CAI as opposed to other CAI's. They even posted that information on their site and several other forums. It was not AEM or Injens intention to make the car run a bit leaner, its just a result of not using an air-straightener like stock. Its a never ending debate and at the end of the day people should choose what they want. The Cobb is the way to go for price and ease of install-removal, if you can get one. Otherwise Injen isn't much more followed by AEM. And if anyone who's whining about it has ever done dyno tuning, you should know that your ASS is a horrible measure of power and can easily be fooled, so stop making claims unless you too have your own dyno sheets to prove things. And BTW, I am higher in elev than Cobb and our local club HAS dyno'd CAI's and shown larger gains than the Cobb SRI, but its still a great intake and a good choice. I would have bought one had they been in stock.

CP-E runs richer than stock, AEM and INJEN run leaner than stock. CP-E provides this information on their site. Thats why its recommended to not use other CAI's because additional mods can easily cause fuel cuts. So yes, buying the CP-E for near identical power of the Cobb is probably not a good idea as people claim the Cobb makes the same power.... at half the price

yeah cai vs sri
I pass this along because I too was once in line for the next batch of COBB SRIs:
The new official word:
The first sample did not work. We are now quoting “Winter” as a time frame for the intake housings. Since we have been passing on the word we have been getting, and it has not come to fruition, we are now just going to give another broad time frame that is way beyond what we are being told.

You gotta be kidding!
I know. I seriously think they've put this on the back burner so they can develop parts for other cars. It's ridiculous to think that a piece of plastic can push this back so far.
However, they did say that there were issues with the quality, and I'd still rather wait and have the thing be as close to perfect as can be than to have it now and be a piece of crap (which is why I'm not buying a used one).

If anyone wants my COBB SRI I'd be willing to trade for the cp-e SRI.
