I had my MSP for about 3 months and I was reading that you car might have been previously modded if some things were different, for example my shift knob isnt the 2003.5 knob, its just a standard black rubber knob that you would find on a stock car. The car also already had a boost controller and a boost gauge but everything was stock in the engine when i got it. Also my MSP used to be pin-striped. I know this because you can see the fadded lines where it used to be. I didnt know that the msps even came with pinstripes. The guy i bought it from was just selling it for his son's girlfriend so he had no clue. its just those little things that bother me.

look up your production number, that should answer your question

It goes by VIN number so make sure you have yours handy.

The MSP knobs are hard to come by so maybe the original owner just kept it. Mine had that extra knob in the glove box when I bought it new. Your tailights do look different but maybe its the small picture. Pinstripes were not an option.

I know of an 2003.5 that came with a factory pin stripe. Maybe it was a dealer installed item ?

Boost controller, and gauge... i dont think anyout would install a boost controller, unless they wanted to Control the boost. You can prolly bet that at some point in time that car was running more then stock boost. Those lights are 100% not stock. if you can take a pic of the engine bay we could tell you more.

What I did was look up in the registry here. I found the PO and tried to PM him without a response. I then checked everyone of his Post on here, and found his cardomain.com page searched that a bit and found all his post on there. I found out he had installed neons under, some euro tails, and that's about it. The car did spend time with someone for about 1 1/2 I'm thinking in the dealer auction circuit, By the time it got to me it was all put back to stock. except for these metallic windshield wiper fluid nozzles.
You can find alot about a person on the internet these days. It's kinda scary

my production number is in my sig........the things that i didnt put on the car and were not stock were
-tail lights
-turbo xs boost controller
-dual gauge pod with boost gauge and AF ratio gauge, which was just sitting in there and i had to intall it.
-weird knob
-neons that werent hooked up so i took those ricer-ific suckers out
-stupid stick-on hood scoop, took that out the second day i had the car
-18'' katana rims with low-profile tires, i cant remeber what type they are right now
-un-faded paint where pinstripeds used to be
-tint
-pioneer head unit w/ no amps or subs( basically i cant listen to music because the guy had all the wiring for a 4 channel amp and subs but i think his son took all that out before he sold it so i cant even listen to the radio untill i get a 4 channel amp
the things i have put on it were
-a fresh coat of wax
-aem CAI
-new vaccum tubing
-and i have a fmic and bov on its way.

Doen't look like the PO ever registered his ride in the registry here: but you should
http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=19888&page=43
What area was he from?...You can carfax and find out what area's the car was registered and check Cardomain in those areas and try to find your ride on there some people post tons of info down or state things in there messages to other members.

Around here the detailing companies that clean the dealer cars also have a pin striping service, The GF's Galant GTZ has that cheezy shit it says Luxury edition under both front doors in the pin stripping.

When i bought the msp the only thing that it had was a boost guage. But im not trippin too much. The car runs great and i also bought it off of showroom floor. But my msp looks like there is a dropped engine in it. So im guessing it has lower miles than what my OD says. Because the motor looks brand new.

Low miles on a "NEW" motor with a boost controller+10psi with no supporting mods could be dead just like one 100k miles. What boost are you running?
