Hawk HPS (High Performance Street) disc brake pads are world renowned for increasing stopping power on your street driven Mazdaspeed3. This unique Ferro-Carbon formula was developed for street performance using the safety and quality of Aerospace and Motorsports severe-duty friction technology. Hawk's HPS compound offers a higher coefficient of friction over stock pads and can provide you 20-40% more stopping power and higher resistance to brake fade than most standard replacement pads.

Goodridge brake lines are a great way to improve the performance and safety of your Mazdaspeed3. These stainless steel braided lines resist the ballooning associated with stock rubber lines and are more resistant to puncture or collapse. Upgrading to stainless steel lines will improve pedal feel and braking in you MS3 more responsive and firm. Goodridge brake lines are designed not only to US DOT standards, but to the extremely strict German TUV specifications.

no. Parts like these assume you know what you are doing or are getting it done by a professional. Brake pads and lines are pretty much universal for all cars with disc brakes so any universal shop manual or DIY book from the library should have all the info you need.

I have done both of these types of parts myself with very little experience with brakes and they were not bad, probably 4/10 on the noob scale. The hardest part is bleeding the brakes after you do the lines.

99.9999999% of aftermarket parts don't come with instructions

So you changed out your front pads on your MS3? You have to dis assemble the front calipers, not the norm by any stretch! The rears, yes a joke. The fronts on my CX7, 04 mz3, Y2k Civic and new si, yes, easy, the speed3? No eh eh...

I have never done them on the MS3, but they do not look any different than other single piston floating calipers that I have done.

I am not sure what you mean by dissassemble?

Take your calipers off when you get a chance and try and squeeze out a pad.

First post here, but I think I can help you guys out. Last time I had my speed3 up on the rack with the wheels off, I noticed the front calipers appear to be the same as the front Volvo XC-90 calipers. Well I happen to be a Volvo tech.

In order to get the caliper off you first need to remove the spring. To do this you must pry between the middle of the spring, and the small metal plate that is attatched to the outer pad.

Once the center clip pops out you just wiggle and fanangle the spring out.

Now you must press back the piston. I use either a small pry bar or BIG channel locks.

Once the piston is pushed back partially you can remove the 2 slider pins the hold the caliper.

Now remove and hang the caliper. Finish pressing in the piston with channel locks.

Remove the pads.

Paste/lube the backing plate to the brake pads and slider pins.

Install new pads.

Put caliper back on bracket. DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN. Very very snug is good. Maybe 30-50 ft/lbs.

Finangle spring back on.(This is the fun part)

Install wheel.

DON'T FORGET TO PUMP THE BRAKES BEFORE DRIVING!!!

Congradulations you just changed your brake pads!(yippy)
