Im looking at buying an 08.5 MS3 within the next few months, so I figured I would go ahead and get this answered now.

I have an Avic-D3 in my WRX currently, which I would like to keep. So, that being said, Ive searched this forum high and low and found mention of a JDM dash kit that allows you to retain full functionality of the trip computer on the LCD at the top.

Is this it? Can anyone confirm that this will work with the 08.5's?

Assuming this works, the D3 will go in. I already know the PAC SWI-PS is needed for the steering wheel controls. The only thing I havent really been able to find is how to integrate it with the rest of the Bose system, since I plan on keeping that stuff. If anyone can point me to a specific thread, that would be fine, but search didnt pull up what I was looking for.

In the worst case scenario, none of this works and I sell the Avic along with the WRX. In that case, what iPod integration solutions currently work? Ideally, Id like something with the text display, but if I cant have that, I would settle for something that can be controlled from the steering wheel.

That kit should work. There's no reason Mazda would change the clip configuration in the last year of production.

As far as keeping the clock/trip computer, you will have to keep the stock radio. I've seen solutions where the connections are lengthened and the stock radio is put in the glovebox, but, the switches that control the clock/trip computer are connected to the radio. So you could have clock or one function of the trip computer, if you need anything else, you'll have to open the glovebox and hit a button. It would be sweet if someone could just create a little brain the performed the calculations for the trip computer and had a clock. OR, if someone created a double din bezel with the buttons and an extended cable to the radio in the glovebox.
