Ok so after spending like 8 hours yesterday and another 3 today I still can't seem to get the MAM FMIC pipes to fit right and get my bumper all the way back on. I don't think the MAM was designed for the 03 with the fog lights. yesterday I got all pipes to fit but not well at all. After sleeping on it I realized I needed to cut notches out of the metal behinf the bumper to get the pipes to run a bit tighter. I also ended up moving the. metal U looking thing that sits infront of the radiator bend the brace that gave me a few more inches of clearance which made all the pipes sit better, along with the cutting. But the pipes are now hitting the fog lights. What gives. Do I have to hack that crap off?

So did you get it to fit? On a side note if your around the northwest burbs you should head up to strats one night so i can check out your car.

i too have that problem. so i decide not to rout that way. you can route buy cutting a hole befor the fog light going up by the pully belts then up to the turbo and on the other side you do the same thing but you have to relocate the coolent catch can back more. i not an expert but thats what i did.. good luck man.

I have the MAM kit on my P5 and still have my foglights. I didn't cut any metal at all. The only things I had to cut were the splash guards and a little bit off the back of the bumper cover. Looking at your pics it doesn't seem like you have the MAM core which could be causing the problems. Here's a helpful hint though. Keep all the couplers loose and try to reinstall the bumper cover. Keep playing with it until something works. I guarantee you it works with foglights.

Actually it's too short. I needed to strecth everything to make it even get around the corners. It's the smallest core I could find.

What's the core size? My MAM core is 24"x6"x3.5" and also has a different mounting means than yours.

Overall Size 27"X6"X2.5"
Core Size 21"x6"x2.5"

I'll get it all to fit just need to do some creative thinking

Yeah, definitely a smaller core. Have you considered getting some longer couplers? I think www.siliconeintakes.com (http://www.siliconeintakes.com) has straight couplers that are longer so you can cut-to-fit them.

You know it's strange because I thought about that but it seems that would make it worse. At least on the drivers side. It looks like the Fog light housing kinda recesses into the spot where the pipe passes. and I'm just missing the turn. If I could cut out the whole corner I'm be straight but that corner holds everything together. The only route I can actually see is grinding at the bumper. Also I'm not sure how the original Intercooler was but it must have had the inlet/outlets off center either higher or lower. If it was lower I could see it passing right under the foglight housing and clearing it. I trying that route as well, but since the in/outlets are centered I lower the whole intercooler and it hits the bottom if the bumper. I should have just gotten the off centered one. But I didn't know

Have you checked out the old MAM FMIC install thread made by 505zoom? If not, here it is: http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=110565. Hopefully that will help you decipher where the pipes are supposed to go.

Excellent reference.

I was gonna say, talk to 505zoom. His car was the MSP that the MAM FMIC kit was built/prototyped on -- so it CAN work with the fogs, no doubt about it.

But with your different sized core, you're gonna have to get a little crafty. ;)

Great link!! I appreciate it. Looks like I ned to rethink some shit. I do have a shorter core. I'm going to take a look at everything again The inlet and outlet seem to be in the same location for me just a bit short I'm going to find longer silicone couplers and see if I can make up the diffrence that way. That may just give me what I need to clear it all.

yeah the MAM core i do believe is the largest core you can possibly fit without having to cut shit.... my bumper took a decent amount of finessing even with the original MAM core.

Ok update.
Success!! Thanks to the person that siad stop cutting! I did and figured out a way around it all. I ended up using an extra short straight piece that I had cut off the hot side and used a coupler to mount it to the cold side intercooler outlet. By doing that I was able to lengthen the pipe and by using the extra coupler the fog light housing was able to push the pipes out of the way a bit more. I also went ahead and relocated my MAF to the cold pipe. In doing so I was also able to give myself a couple extra inches dropping the pipe further into the fenderwell giving me that extra angle to get around the fog light. I was also able to somehow get rid of that noise I was getting at boost. I must have had a leak somewhere. I checked the couplers for a hole but none was found.
It seems to pull harder/smoother with the MAF on the cold pipe
I'll post some pics when the sun comes out tomarrow. It's too gloomy and the car is filthy.
