Well guys i wish i was home like the rest of you to enjoy my Pro5 but unfortunately im in Iraq for my third tour in 4 years. But im making extra money and plan on doing some stuff to the Pr05 when i get home. Im looking to buy a complete Stock MSP turbo kit or some cams and gears. Good luck man, be safe. Your P5 will miss you.

Be safe!

If you want decent power the MSP setup would be the better option considering you would need an ems to get much gains from cams. The cost would probably be close to the same.

Thanks guys, ive only got a couple months left and i missmy pro5 ike crazy...and my bike..and my boat.. and my dirtbike.. and cool weather LoL. what should i do then about a little more power. i was thinking cams and gears and some lightweight pullys. but really want to turbo my car.

Your asking the wrong person! I say save up about $20k and go big!

Seriously though a MSP kit at low boost to keep the motor and tranny safe around 170-200whp could be had for cheap.

how much do you think i can pull one for?

Keep a look out in the fs section. Also you'd be best with an fmic setup instead of the smic due to the msp using a different radiator to fit the smic next to it.

I found a nice kit for $4500 that puts the car at 247whp on 8psi with a T3/T4 turbo, the website is www.CPBoost.com I just happen to run across them last night before tower guard. I'm in Afghanistan, I'm in the same boat you are but...unlike the Chair Force we Army guys are deployed for 15mos :( I don't even take mid tour leave til Feb 2009. I just got here end of March. But ya I dunno how much money you are trying to throw down on a turbo kit, but if you are wanting a good kit and not wanting to go the el cheapo route with the stock MSP kit, I'd look at the kit I posted or even the cheap kit that www.Turbo-kits.com has for sale, they have two variations of the kit, $1800 and I believe a little over $3000 for the full kit.

Good luck and stay safe over there.

PS - just curious but what FOB are you at in Baghdad, I was at FOB Loyalty, near FOB Rustamiah

lol, I don't think you are doing quite the same thing I am doing. I'm in a small compound in Afghanistan, with 8 guys about as close to the Taliban as a person needs to be lol. And we do 15mo tours, soon to be 12mos, but my unit is stuck doing 15mos. But ya, no prob on the sites. The CPBoost.com kit looks like a nice kit for the money, I think I'm gonna go with that one beacuse my car is basically ready for a turbo swap, I've already done suspension and supporting mods. I just am looking into the forged rods and pistons, but I don't know where to find a block guard for the FS-DE motor. Damn Mazda and their shitty aftermarket for the Protege lol

CP Boost is very good quality...they're on my list for an intake and turbo mani and dp for my turbo upgrade. At that power though you'll need another $10k+ to build the motor and tranny very soon after or maybe not?? There have been a few lucky ones!

The oem msp setup is good for low boost to keep everything in one piece (welded msp lsd is a good idea) beyond that time to upgrade EVERYTHING!

I found that kit last night when i was looking around for vids on youtube. Sounds like a solid kit. I agree, probably rods and pistons and a block guard would be in order, as well as some 440cc injectors. I've been told that tuning is everything, so with this kit you could have it tuned and be straight. however I fail to have confidence in the protege transmissions. I think that the ProtegeGarage trans upgrade kit and a welded MSP LSD would probably suite you well or anyone well with this turbo kit. I think for 8psi that it should be safe to run, it only has a higher WHP rate cuz of the turbo size, thats all.

Another option on the LSD is a thing called Phantom Grip, I read about it when I was gonna sell my car and go with a honda civic hatchback swapped. It is cheap as hell and is basically a LSD but more simple. I dont know if they make them for Proteges though, but might be worth looking into.

nice guys thanks a lot. Im not looking to make it a monster seeing as how my Bike is my real baby and i race bikes and teach sportbike classes for the Airforce. im just looking to get a little more power but keep my engine integrity. So i think the stock MSP setup would best suit my needs

Why don't you just get a like 50shot and call it a day? Cheaper and you still get the same if not more power from it that u would if you had a MSP turbo kit.

Ya after thinking about it, I may just do the same thing. because I want a bike too and I don't need to have a car that sucks more gas than I can imagine. I'll prob just do a MSP kit or something similar and call it good at 200whp or so.

Steve-

Be safe out there and thank you. Hopefully you'll return home to a pile of parts that bring boost to your P5.

yea man thats all i really want to do is just have a little sleeper. no one will expect a wagon to have a turbo so when some civic pulls up and i blow his doors off i can feel better about my little Pro5. I love my bike it tops out at 174 MPH and its my main hobby cause i teach sport bike classes and do track days a lot. Not to mention i get about 160 Miles per tank which is only 4 gallons...so gas is cheap on my bike. im still looking for a good MSP turbo kit that i can buy... but i need the whole setup before i buy it.
