Our watercooled turbos are oriented in a way to draw coolant through them after shutoff, so a TT isn't really necessary.

I luv my TT, I just laugh when I watch my friend waiting in his Saab Viggen before turning it off. Peace of mind has it's price on my msp.

true story.
yes its not necessary. yes you can sit and wait if you run the car hard.
But its nice knowing that you are not cooking your 1000 dollar turbo every time you turn the car off. 70 dollars to help protect a 1000 dollar investment. The coolant and oil will never circulate as well as when the oil and water pump are spinning.
Again, i know its not necessary, but better safe than sorry.

only reason that keeps from buying one is the case where i might have to move my car quick...say about 50 feet, and dont engage the turbo, would i have to wait 15 seconds then?

(iagree) Keep this in mind. Unless you are gonna go bigger turbo anyways. You don't need one, but it is a good investment in the end.

I disagree; smaller turbos hold more heat. Larger turbos produce more heat but in the end the bigger the turbo, the more efficiently it evacuates hot exhaust gasses. Blow hot air through your fist and then again through a much looser fist, which palm stays hotter longer? Bad example but my point is: a turbo timer is a good investment for any turbocharged car and even some N/A cars. Either let it run while you're in it or let it run and walk away.

Here is another question, it came up on another post but it was definitively answered....
With standard 2 people are using (HKS and GReddy), can you lock your car before the tt shuts off your motor? Some have said either their keyfob wont work, or their car unlocks itself when the tt shuts off the motor.

I installed a TT (Pivot) on my Ride. Is it worth it - probably not. Like others have said you can idle the car for a few seconds if it has been run hard before shutting it down. If it was really necessary it would have come equiped with one. Not many factory installed TT on turbo cars. For me its a cool accessory and one more item to add to the mod list.
As far as security. I was worried at first that someone would think it was possible to break-in and take off with the car. The car would automatically shut down once the parking break is released preventing boosting of the car.
More concerned about someone tempted to break-in and breaking a window or damaging the car. I ended up upgrading my alarm system (for this and a
number of other reasons) and integrating it with the TT. I got a viper alarm system which will allow the security system to lock and arm itself even if the car is running.
Believe it or not the most annoying thing is people coming up to me and saying "Do you know your car is still running"? (braindead)
Then I end up explaining the purpose and benefits of the TT to them.
