I have gone through 4 belts in 6 months. I had the water pump replaced and the A/C pulley replaced. I took it to the shop today again and they can't seem to figure it out. The alternator looks fine and everything is spinning in line and looks perfect. however my belts keep getting ripped up on the same side. any suggestions?

my mechanic said to get a new crank pulley and we can try that out.

something is obviously loose.

something is obviously loose.

like the tensioner or something as in the alternator itself, or the crank pulley...

do they make a belt for our car that maybe is a hair smaller in width?

i am buying a new crank pulley now. if this doesnt fix it then the only thing it could possibly be is the alt or the brackets for the alt.. sigh

just an update on the issue.

i had the crank pulley replaced and it turns out the old one had a few pieces of medal that were cutting up the belt. The previous owner must have changed the timing belt and didnt have the right tools to pull of the pulley and ending up Fing it up. All fixed ($500 later) hope no one else has the same problem.

Did you get an oem pulley or a lightweight one?

Is there a downside to having a lightweight crankshaft pulley?
