I just ordered the Forge Recirculating BPV as my first mod. I was just wondering as to why anyone would go with an atmospheric for our cars (I saw it listed). To my understanding, atmospheric would not give the best performance?

Performance, I'm not sure but venting to atmosphere makes the car idle horrible and burns more rich = not good, without a tune

I would assume VTA is done for the 'cool' factor...
It seems pretty obvious to me that venting air that had already been 'metered' and the engine expects to be in the cylinders, and therefore provides fuel for, is a bad idea. Yet, I am not an expert by any means.

Being as vain as I am, the sound is worth a bit of popping and discomfort.
I know one person here tried to go vta without a recirculation cap, and that's bad news bears, you really gotta cap that shit. my car def doesnt go as smoothly with the greddy type s on vta. i did see a youtube video of a dsm with it in recirc who still retained the whistle, so I just ordered my fitting from SU. I know it won't be as loud, but if I get the great whistle I LOOOOOOVE with the driveability I want, it's a win-win situation

if your car is stock you really have no need for either a bpv or bov. you could've spent the money better elsewhere. but at least you got a bpv and not vta, but if you want to impress the local high school kids get a bov!

You could get a Turbo XS hybrid or Turbosmart dual port BOV and have the best of both worlds.

I have the turbo xs 50/50 but loved the greddy type s sound and found a deal on one. I am trying to make it work dammit!! haha. no but really, I love the greddy.

I've had the Turbosmart for a year and a half and love it. I can change it from hybrid to full recirc in about 10 mins. I wish I had the Turbosmart compact BOV one though.

I run the Turbosmart Compact Dual Port and it's great.
Give the best of both worlds.

the greddy type s is one of the worst bovs u can get for a maf car, trust me on that one. it screws up the ecu so bad, half the problems we were running into on alot of the cars we were working on was this valve. but whatever to each his own

With all the tales of the stocker leaking, I figured that for $150 I better not take the chance, thus I conclude it was well worth the spent.
I was merely wondering why they even offer a VTA when it is so poopy for the motor?

I wanted the Forge originally, and took a test drive in a car that had that, the Mazdaspeed Intake and I really found the ping to annoying and I didn't like the sound at all.
I instead looked at the HKS unit and again the install and the sound of that one I didn't like either.
The second I heard the Turbosmart and how it didn't cause any MAF sensor fuel rich out problems once adjusted properly.. I got my hands on the compact dual port and installed it.
The test run put the biggest smile on my face.. as it sounded very loud... and for an attention whore like me.. it's perfect.. (yes.. I'll admit it...I prefer to spend my money on this BOV to gain attention than some fucking silver wing or loud ass stereo).
Also, I'm noticing it leaks alot less.. I maintain boost alot longer in the upper range...

Well I am glad I didn't go with the Turbosmart then. I am not looking to turn a bunch of heads. I merely want a BPV that won't leak. I only hope my Forge isn't super loud or anything.
