I was at my Mazda dealer that services my car and had my new HU installed (sounds amazing) and after that I went up to the lot to see what they had, this is what I found.
2009 Mazdaspeed3 Sport
Metropolitan Gray Mica
Also, on June 23 when I bought my 3GT I was at this dealership first and saw this amazing Black Mica speed3 GT and was a signature away from buying it but sadly didn't. Amazingly, it is still on their lot.
Sorry for the crappy cell phone pics.
And yes, this Mazda dealer is right next to a Budget rental place.

Anyone know any changes between the 08.5 and the 09?

If you have a window sticker, I posted a very nice shot of this one's window sticker.
I actually am not that disappointed that there's an '09 because then I might be able to convince this same dealer that the black '08 is worth me handing him the keys to mine and taking those...hehe

All they are doing is selling of the remaining 08 production run as 09's. its just like a 08.5 Sport. Really dosn't matter. In the end if we have 10 k or 15 k ms3's on the road it will not affect resale too much. Keeping up the reputaion of these cars as modable, reliable cars will do more for resale than production numbers IMO. So try not to blow up these cars and mod sensibly :)

^^well said! its one of the reasons why i think civics and integras have such good resell value, reliability.

i checked the invoice on my 2008 MS3. the changes i found--l mile less highway. dual illum visor vanity mirrors (the illum. is new) MSRP 22740 (mine 22340) delivery 670 (vs.635) Total (no options) 23410 vs 22975. i think thats 435.00 more. thats not bad considering is has a newer resale value. or you paid 435.00 for the vanity mirror illumination. yuk, yuk. ENJOY!!

This car was delivered farther, it is in NorCal from Japan so going to the west coast is more expensive than central or east.

better check the stick on the door jam for the production date. Chances are those 2009 are just 08.5

I really hope 2008.5 was the last and this is just a fluke. I'm happy to have a limited car but I've seen lots of MS3s around lately, and being driven by moms with kids in the backseats and, yes, one being driven by a senior citizen. soon everyone will have one and it wont be cool anymore.
"what the f*** is that? mazdaspeed?" whoosh "damn, got a turbo!?!?! whoa"

I've seen just 2 where I live and I'm always on the lookout for speeds. and limited doesn't hold much for our cars since it looks just about the same as the normal 3's.
now something like the Audi R8, that's something you expect as limited.

I should've but I was just too caught up in the final argument of the ever ongoing controversy from Mazda of "will there be a 2009????"
Besides I didn't really think of that when I was there and driving back to that dealer is a haul so unless they're going to fix my A/C finally then I'm not going to drive back up and find out.
But, you probably are right, they might just be 2008.5's with a 2009 window sticker.

08.5 was the first time you could get white... They started arriving mid march, I picked mine up March 27th.

I know that it's improbable and would be incredibly stupid but that could be one reason why delivery to here is more expensive than the east coast...or just because shit in California is expensive as all hell.

West Coast is closer, delivering by port to East Coast would require going through the Panama Canal.

This is why I said that would be a stupid move by Mazda. I'd say delivery to the west is more expensive because "everything's more expensive in California" and ain't it the truth.

Probably on the same boat mine was on. Mine hit the states about that time but your in CA so you got yours while mine was on a train across the US then it took 2 weeks to get off a truck once it was in MI... It literally sat on the open truck for a week 30 miles from my house so I said I'd drive there to pick it up but that didnt work. Doesnt matter now, have the car and love it.

Ya, I know what you mean about the not wanting to wait part. I had them tracking the progress of it about a month and a half before arrival. It was actually scheduled to arrive 2-27-08, so when they called me on the 21st I was beyond excited that it arrived early. I got to the dealership while it was still being unloaded from the delivery truck. (bolt)

I just got an 09 metro gray MS3 and also thinking about wheel choices. I think it would look dull w/ gray wheels. Better off with black or chrome.
If I'm not mistaken, 09 also had an upholstery change? Or did 8.5 have the same interior. Sorry total n00b.
I also had to chuckle about the people complaining about old people and families in MS3. I bought mine as a family touring car because I just couldn't do the mini van/suv/crossover/whatever. (yawn) I just need a retro Baby on Board thing so I can explain why I'm driving so slow when I'm w/ the fam. By me self, I carve the meat and serve it too.
Anyways, great car! Mine had 12 miles off the showroom. Within 50, she was mine, deflowered on a mountain road. How sweet it is.

Congrats on the pickup, I've been debating wheel choices for a while myself, its tough to find something thats relatively light and not too expensive that looks good also.
The 08.5's were the mid year change that brought the black seats (alcantara for GT's) and piano black interior along with other minor changes.

Since we are getting on that topic of wheels, and how expensive California is, I would just like to ask/say that my MZ3 would look sick with chrome stockies. What do you guys think about that?

I just thought I'd bring it up because I saw a MZ3 hatch around here with the old style 5-spoker stockies that he chromed or had the dealer chrome or came chromed and it looked pretty sweet. IMO, the snowflakes look better so...

I think the snowflake rims look like deer antler rims. Not hating, I do like them.

09-02-2008, 12:25 AM
LOL!! That's hella funny. I think if I chromed them to match my emblems like people will black them out to match their emblems then that'd look sick but it's probably going to cost more than I want it to. Besides, isn't it what's underneath the skin that really matters?

Going back to having to wait for your car... I was ready to buy in early July but they had my black MS3 sitting in the mall here for months... didn't take it out until 2 or 3 weeks after I talked to them about a sale. Talk about poor customer satisfaction. When they brought it to the dealership though, they stuck it right in the middle of the showroom facing the doors... I'll tell you I haven't heard a noise much nicer than hearing that MS3 start up in the showroom and echo (its a small showroom, high ceilings) around, it was a total eargasm.

I dunno, dirt shows up pretty nice on my car, plus I think the stock wheels are a little too bright for metro grey. The stocks look perfect on CWP.

sorry to bring up dead threads but....
To my surprise, I picked up the exact same car thats in your photo on sep 28. I looked at the vin # on the and Its the same car. weird thing is I picked it up at my broker in Marin. This MS3 traveled from San Jose Mazda , Diablo mazda then to antioch mazda and to my broker. By the time I received it it had 200miles on it. Oh well got it for under invoice and loving every minute of it.
what a small world.

Well ain't that weird as all hell. When I saw it, it had around 50ish miles and was still mostly covered, they unwrapped it a little bit more for me but from the moment I got in, I loved it.
Really small world.
Maybe I can see some updated pictures?

Well yea but that was ~200+ miles ago. Who knows what he did to it since he got it. On that basis, I would like to see some updated pictures. Besides that, the last time I saw it the car was filled with plastic and paper.

Why yes, yes it is.
My Mazda dealer, Diablo Mazda, is a Subaru/Mazda dealer so next to some of the MS3's are a row of STI's but only in the back parking lot. It's a very small, strange lot.
