I'm new here and have only been looking at this forum for about 2 days. That said, I have learned a TON already when it comes to the problems with my car. I live on Guam and bought my '00 Protege DX 1.6 from a guy on the Air Force Base. It's got 120,000 miles and has all kinds of problems(not to mention the fact that my old lady accidentally put the title, registration, and bill of sale in the washer..but whatever..).
By using the guides on this forum, I plan on getting my protege running nice & good. I recently replaced(should've cleaned the old one) the MAF. Now, I need to clean the EGR valve and the IAC(right?) valve. I also think that I've got a cracked valve cover. Some shop out here recently replaced the gasket, but it's still smelling like burnt oil. I'll try & get a picture up, but it looks like there's a 1/4-1/2 inch long crack by the left-hand bolt(closest to you if you're looking at the engine).
Anyhow, I'll get some updates going as soon as I can get some cleaner for the EGR & stuff. Just wanted to say that this website is awesome, and I hope to save a lot of money by using this information.
