I've been having problems when sihfting to 3rd gear ... only 3rd gear, the rest of them are somehow rough but that's something I can live with.
The thing is I read a lot of things about it, among them, the possibility of it being my engine mounts ... so i went ahead and took a look at them. Well sure enough the front one, directly behind the intercooler has a problem. The mount itself is perfect, but the ... forgive my improper term ... the metal thing that goes on top of the mount, which is actually the piece that conects the mount to the engine is completely dettatched from it. it broke.
The problem is ... I do not know how the H#&@L you call this thing, therefore I cant buy it. Can any of you guys help me as far as where to look for this. I will attach pictures of it in case my description is not good enough. I am selling the car. but with this stupid piece of metal broken. people (regular people who has no mechanical knowledge) will think that the world is over and that the whole gear box is messed up. Can you please help me.

It wouldnt be hard if the bolts were loos somehow...It would rock back and forth until finally it broke like this.

Ever had any work done to your tranny or engine?
Driveshafts?
Front Wheel bearings?
..,anything to make them take the mounts loose for some reason?

I replaced the engine about 2 months ago, so that might have been it. do you know the name of that thing?

You may want to take a look at you own link buddy.

What part of "The mount itself is perfect" did you not understand?

if i put in your super smart answer : "Transmission side motor mount" it just take me to regular mounts which Ummm as i said in the begining ... "IS NOT WHAT I NEED" so ... next time you want to be a SmartAS!$@%. Think first.

thats def not the transmission mount

however idk what you would call that lol uhh go to the dealer and have a look at the parts list they have, they might have it on there and then the guy can look it up and give you a price
or you can just find out what it is from them and then look to find it cheaper somewhere else

You need the bracket that the front mount sits in. Just tell the dealer that. Contact one of the oem mazda vendors listed on this site. Not sure if the bracket itself is available or its part of another piece.
