I ran across a dealer on Ebay selling a relatively loaded 08 GT with navi, roof, tow, etc. that listed for $40+ at $30k buy it now. I do like our CX-9, but that was my concern with the Mazda. Their resale or ability to hold any value is weak. They don't appear to be selling this model well at all or at least in my area. Just an observation. I was debating between this and the Pilot when I bought 1 1/2 years ago and this one won. I always look to resale value since I never keep my cars too long. This one looks like it will have to be a keeper until the wheels literally fall off.

Heck yeah they are cheap now. I just picked up a brilliant black sport 2wd for $21.7k.
It isn't anything to do with this vehicle; rather, it's the entire SUV range is taking a huge hit.

I bought mine back when they were first hitting the lots and I got about $3500 off which was fantastic then.

Well, for example, there's a local one here that's MSRP is $35k, and the dealer's asking price is $28,900.
Mazda is currently running its finance promotion, 0.0% for 36 or 1.9% for 48 and 60 months, but in lieu of that, dealers can also receive $3500 in customer cash that can be applied to the price of the vehicle.
For the one I mentioned, if you sell at invoice (roughly $32.5k) and then take the customer cash ($3500), that puts you at $29k + ttl.

For all you Canadians out there they are now offering a $7000 discount instead of low rate finnancing on remaining 2008's. My dealer only has 3 left, but I'm sure some dealers still have a few.

Picking up a CX-9 awd sport with a power seat and roof Rails for 23470 + TTL and $75 doc fee ~ $8500 off MSRP, the question is to go for the moonroof and Bose pack, I asked and they tacked it on for $1760 more (the full msrp) but I see the invoice of $1514 which is a bit higher then we want. I am hopeing to get the same % discount (26.6) on the accessory pack getting it more like $1300 and leverage my trade a bit better (currently offered $500 less than KBB trade). Will keep you posted - excited to get the new addition (dance)

How much were the fees, those might as well be part of the price, only Destination, Tax, Title and License are usually not negotiable.
Free car washes sound great, that will keep your ride looking good if the dealer is close and if it is fast.

I got the touring with MSRP of 31,615. I got it for 22,174 which is 9,441 below sticker. I also had to pay $400 in dealer prep +TTD, so it depends on how you count the $s you could say it was 9k below sticker. It did take some negotiation, almost walked out 3 times but what the hell, they threw in a baseball cap and t-shirt.
The dealer paid full KBB trade (rated as good) in value for my car which was not worth much in the first place (3k), so that may have helped the deal since they could resell it for another 2k profit, if I sold it I think I could have done 1k better then there trade in offer, it was a piece of crap and I did not want the next owner coming to me to complain.
BTW I got it on the last sales day for the month which probibly helped

We went for a test drive today. Was not even going to talk about price. Sales manager immediately told me that he can "get me in a car for $10k or more off the sticker"
I get S-Plan, so now i need to figure out if wait for 09 is worth the difference in price.

Purchased my GT All Wheel Drive, Crystal White Pearl Mica w/ Sand Interior, GT Assist Package, Mooroof/Bose CD Package, Towing Package (MSRP $41,105) at a little over $37k (w/ S-plan) plus 1.9% APR for 60 days. Picked up the car last Tuesday in San Diego. Love it!!!
If you can get 10k off MSRP on an '08 with a similar package, that trumps ANY S-plan deal you can get. Besides, no significant changes for the '09 model.
08 GT AWD with GT assist/Moonroof/Bose/Blind spot mon/Towing/Compass/Roof rails
MSRP $40835
Invoice $37830
With 1.9% 60 mo financing... $37230
With cash/own financing.... $33230
Add about 10% for taxes/title fees.
Any comments? Thanks.
We just picked up an 08 AWD Touring w/Roof Rails - Copper Red Mica
$27670 + TTL
Free oil changes for life of vehicle
Reading this makes me want to shoot myself in the face.....I bought mine in 2007 when they first came out. 2007 GT FWD, NAV, Remote Start, Rear entertainment, etc for $36,000.

Stormy Blue on black interior.
Love it so far!

I just bought a CX-9 Touring today. I am moving next week and won't pick it up until the, I can't wait!!!
I think I got a GREAT deal:
2008 CX-9 Touring AWD
Galaxy Grey Mica
MOONROOF/BOSE PACKAGE
BACK UP CAMERA PACKAGE
Roof Rails + Crossbars
$27K
($36,300 MSRP - $9300 Discount)
That's a great deal schnieds... Better than the deal we got on our Touring due to the options... Thinking back, I feel I could have gotten more $$ off the MSRP than the $6300 they discounted for us, but to be honest, I was completely shocked by the $6300, I didn't even think it would be possible to do better... so I didn't try. Oh well.
Honestly though. I had just come from the Toyota dealership where I test drove a Highlander Sport. The price on that vehicle was close to $38k, with CLOTH seats. Toyota charged for so many options that were standard on both the CX-9 Touring and the Honda Pilot EX-L. So after test driving the CX-9 (which was the most comfortable, best driving, most nicely appointed of all three), only to see $27k on the calculator from the salesman, I jumped at it.

Where in the world are you guys finding these discounts??? I went to the Mazda dealer in NY (Yonkers) - and he was quoting $1000 above invoice for a fully loaded GT. I didn't negotiate yet, but its amazing to see ppl getting $6k or $9k differences in price! Appreciate your help!
I started by asking about the 1.9% financing they were offering on CX9s... (I saw this on Mazda's website)... The sales manager at that let us know about the incentives they were running ($4k off or so...) He basically said, yeah, we can get you approved for the 1.9%, but I think you'd rather have cash off the sale price, and then get financed for something a little higher (4.9%). Also, keep in mind, I was dealing with the internet salesman. If you ask for a quote from Mazda's website, the nearest dealership's internet salesman will send you a quote. I don't know if all dealerships are the same, but when I went in to to talk to the internet salesman and take a testdrive, he was VERY up front about everything. He said that since he IS an internet sales guy, he does NOT work on commission. They take the invoice price of the car, and add 2%. That is the sale price... ignore the sticker. They had some stupid "Rocky Mountain Package" on the sticker for like $1600... I asked about that, and he said to ignore it... he said that that package stands for "added dealer profit" (his words), and that I would not be paying that.
The dealer cash incentives ($4k) were subtracted from the invoice + 2% number... That was the price I paid. I didn't argue or haggle one bit. I probably should have to some degree, but I'm still happy.
Moral of the story... DON'T walk into the dealership and deal with a salesman on the floor. Get a quote from... and an appointment with the internet salesman.

He's looking for a rube.
But you know that people are getting $9-10k off MSRP. The main incentives are the $4k (not combinable with the financing rate) and some unknown bonus that Mazda dealers who sell lots of cars get per car sold. There are others as well.
I went through the internet exclusively. I told 5 dealers what I wanted and that I knew people were getting incredible deals on the cars and specifically mentioned that I had seen deals for "$31k on $41k MSRP cars". You need to make them understand that you are a knowledgable consumer with certain expectations. Don't be afraid to shop any quote you get -- I did and got another $1500 off after some back and forth. Also, don't be afraid to buy from a remote or out-of-state dealer -- the money you save might be more than enough to offset any transport or travel costs.
That said, 08's are probably starting to shrink in supply so work hard and fast for a week to get the right price, don't wait too long.

I just picked up our 2008 Sport FWD last night.
It is liquid platinum with black interior.
Bose/Moonroof package and power seat added.
We got almost $9000 off the MSRP for a sale price of $23.5
Had to watch out because one dealer tried to charge me sales tax on the MSRP and the apply the rebates and discounts after that.
It's only been one day but I'm happy with it so far!!
Worked through 4 dealers until one finally agreed to the price!
One place bluntly stated, if you can get a new CX-9 for that price, go buy it there and enjoy it. Another guy worked with me a little bit, came down $7,000 and then came up with an excuse that the specific one I wanted was sold already...seeing that I wasn't going to buy it for anything more than what I offered...
Great deals everywhere!
