The wraps have come off the ultimate Aston Martin. This stunning machine is an all-new supercar from the famous British firm that will go on sale late next year, taking the company into uncharted territory carrying a £1million price tag and power from a 7.0-litre V12 engine.

More expensive than the Bugatti Veyron, the newcomer will be limited to a production run of just 77 cars – hence its current codename, One-77. A real bolt from the blue, Aston has managed to keep the entire project under wraps until now. It will be inviting a select group of customers to see a finished model before the end of the year.

Details are scarce but the One-77 will be powered by a 7.0-litre V12, get a handcrafted aluminium body and a carbonfibre chassis. As a result it is likely to do 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and have a top speed in excess of 200mph. Aston says potential owners will be able to personalise virtually every aspect of the car.

This is one of the cool things about the McLaren F1. It has been said that owners could customize them in a great variety of ways. In fact, when you bought one used, Mclaren would take it back, "make it like new", and add any custimization that the new owner wanted. They noted "most of the items we install in the cars is kept top secret, less anyone wanted to steal someone else's idea"...all for a price, of course.

I'm sure Aston will do anything you want to the car...all for a price, of course.

for 1 million, I'm not sure I want it, performance isn't that great, it IS only 3.5 seconds to 60 and for $80k and lots of cars for cheaper can get to 200mph. I think I'd rather just take a DBS instead and spend the rest on other cars that are more worthwhile.

Yup, but I think performance and speed are not the critical aspects that make this car so unique. Owning one of the 77 is (naughty)

^^ +1. performance numbers are only one part of the equation, and it's not like this car is a pokey puppy. sure, you could build a drag mustang that gets to 60 quicker, but it's not going to be nearly as dead sexy as an Aston (or do anything else well).

and anyone who's contemplating spending $1 million on a car isn't stretching themselves to do it, so they surely can afford to go faster if they choose.

also, please post a list of the "lots" of $80k cars that accelerate that quickly and top out above 200mph.
