Ok so I start my car last night and starts idling like shit, I pop hood and see the engine shaking violently (sorry for mispells) and I see my check ingine light BLINKING so I drive it down the road and it would just run like shit I really dont know how to explain it other than just shitty. So I limp to autozone and they give me three codes one is PO103: MAF, which i know i got a bad maf but thats not my problem at the time.
2nd code is PO sumtihing, wich is for my Catylic converter which is also not my problem because my cutt out replaced my cat.
3rd code is PO301: Misfire detected in cylinder 1 BINGO!!!

My question's are
-what is a misfire?
-which is cylinder #1?
-why is cylinder misfiring?

Note Discreet speed changed my spark plugs like last month so they are good.

any help, tips ,advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

-Tomas

Bump (bump) HeLP Please...

it could be a number of things

1) bad or clogged injector
solution: replace bad injector or run seafoam or other gas
treatment/injector cleaner
2) wrong gap on new spark plugs
3) faulty wires
4) faulty coils
5) wrong type of gas( 93+ only)
6) bad MAF (this will cause fuel cuts as well)

check from cheapest to fix to most expensive until you fix the problem.

Thanks man Ok Discreet also did a seafoam treatment the same day of the spark plug install .
also If the plugs were gapped incorrectly wouldnt start acting up right away not a month later?
-gas always premium yES even @4.05 a gallon Lol
-my MAF has been bad for a while already but wouldnt cause this problem.

keep em coming guys...... BUMP...(bump)

I'm going to go with a bad coil. My guess is that if they were gapped incorrectly or a plug that is cheaply made it will cause the coil to heat and burn up. This would most likely cause all kinds of codes. I would check the conductivity of the coil.

Yes thank you very kindly sir, that was also my next guess.
How would I go by doing that though? Checking conductivity of coil?

Pull the engine cover off and check the plug wire. make sure its connected and didnt disconnect. from the sound of it you may be running on less the four cylinders but thats just a guess.
If your coil was bad that would have an effect on both number one and four cylinder as they are joined.

*remove engine cover and check spark plug #1 wire.

Same thing happened to me yesterday too. I went and bought new plugs, wires, and coils. They will be in tomorrow. I got the same codes as you too, except mine is P0303 - misfiring in cyl # 3. I will let you know what I find out.

a buddy of mine has same kind of problems on his turbo sentra SERspecv. he never found the problem though, soooo im subbed to see outcome.

If you have a multimeter you can use the conductivity check and find out if you have a bad coil otherwise just go buy one and if it doesnt fix it then take it back.

all you have to do is swap the coils and see if the mis fire moves with it. Also if that doesn't fix it do a compression test and a cylinder leakage test. This could be a new problem with these motors. I can't get mine to pop but I lunched the rings in cylinder 4 and the exact same thing happend.

I replaced coils, wires, and plugs last night. Car seems pretty good right now. I reset the ECU too, so we will see if the code come back. Seems like a get smoother starts from 1st gear for right now. It did seem like the car had a little trouble getting up to speed before replacing everything.

Hows it going blkonblkMSP. Been a little while but replacing coils, wires, and plugs seemed to work well for me. Just wanted to make sure you tracked down your problem.
