Was wondering if anyone has/had this HKS shift knob and can give an impression: www.hksusa.com/products/?id=2183 (http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=2183)

The thread pitch of M10x1.25 fits, but it says "most" Mazdas. Didn't know if the plastic ring for the shift boot or the reverse lockout would cause a prob. For $36, I might just take the plunge for shits & giggles. I wish they had the 6-speed decal for our gates. Oh well.

honestly, i think it looks like ass. the stock shift knob beats it hands down.

makes me wonder how many people share your opinion, tho, seeing as it is back by 'popular demand'

i rock a inproperly marked greddy shift knob. the weighted one. i like it and it gives a good feel, i think its shorter then the stock and the knob took some getting used to but i love it. i wouldnt wanna go back to stock and the weight helped me a bit with my miss shifting. only down is it gets hot when its in the sun, watch out cause i have to keep a little knob sock a granny from a nissan forum made me for when its hot. i mean it hurts. but i love it and it looks good so if you like that one go for it and it is nice to know the stocker isnt getting beat up.

my greddy said for most mazdas and it threaded right up no prob. it bottoms out on the shifter so the ball is flush with the top of the shifter(think that helped shorten it). no problems with shifting or coming loose(been on 6 months) and reverse is not a issue. only thing that sucks is it came with a 5 speed design but hell i know how to drive the car so its no biggie. i recommend changing knobs and personally i like the hks but all my parts are greddy so i didnt wanna cross brand her. hope that helps you out here is a link to my knob so you can figure if that works hopefully take care man.

i meant no one should care what you thought because your shift knob is a pool ball.
it was a joke - a shitty one - and one that got lost in context

Well, apparently they do offer the 6-speed in our pattern. Kinda important for me since most nice restaurants in DC valet park and I need something showing the shift gates to pass inspection. What the hell, I'll give it a whirl.

Not sure. I tried to call HKS USA a few times, but nobody ever picks up. Since it's cheap, I decided to buy it anyway and ordered it from them. It'll come in on Tuesday. I hope it comes with the correct 6-speed pattern decal, but if not, I'll just rock the regular HKS one. No biggie.

So I got one of these and installed it. I just can't dig it. It's a lot shorter than the stock knob (puts a nice gap between the knob and the boot) and wayyyy lighter. Just not my thing.

If anyone is interested in an HKS shift knob let me know.

If anyone is interested in an HKS shift knob let me know. The boot is a minor issue. Just have to pull off the boot/trim, put a ziptie where you want the boot to sit, and reinstall the boot/trim.

Thanks for the tip but the fact that this shifter is sooooo much lighter than stock really bothers me too. Unless I can add some serious weight to it I don't plan on keeping it.
