I am turbocharging my 2002 Protege ES 2.0. I have almost all the parts except for intercooler.

Obviously, the MSP stock rad / intercooler won't fit without changing the AC condenser, etc.

I am looking for a suggestion on intercoolers that would fit a Protege ES 2.0, without changing the bumper to an MSP one.

I looked at units such as the Corksport, but it looks like the piping is routed where the stock SMIC unit would have been on an MSP.

Any suggestions?

they are the exact same engines... the msp turbo setup is a direct bolt on...

ive never heard of any issues with the AC condenser?

Nope, Corksport does not utilize the SMIC opening (goes just below it I believe) so it will work with the full-sized radiator. Now whether it will work with the sedan front bumper is a different story... I don't know of any 'kits' for compatability with the sedan bumper unfortunately.

The AC Condenser in my 2002 Protege is as wide as the radiator.

The radiator on an MSP is not as wide as the intercooler sits on one side of it and sticks out about 2" infront of the radiator.

Because of this, the intercooler hits the AC Condenser.

Yep, any intercooler that works with the full-sized radiator will work with your setup. IIRC, there is only one FMIC kit that is currently being made that works and the is the Corksport. Older kits were the iON, Mental Addictions, and the Perrin. All of those avoid the radiator and AC condensor (although the Perrin requires you to play with AC lines a little). Unfortunately all of those were also mean to be used with the MP3/P5/MSP front bumper cover. I know some people have gotten the MAM (Mental Addictions) FMIC kit to work with the sedan bumper cover but it required a good deal of cutting.

I'll be taking my MAM kit off here probably within the month if you're interested. It's a little dinged up but still works just fine. :)
