I have had it with pouring in money to keep this car running!! It was a problem when I first had the darn thing, but I love it so much that I kept it until now. I wanted to trade in the car for a 2008 KIA Sportage brand new. I won't be getting the same fun and zoom zoom like my MSP but damn I had had enough. This year alone I have spent 2 grand just to keep it running, and I still owe 2 grand on it!! So here is the low down:
My Trade-In
2003.5 MSP TI
94,000 Miles - I drove the shit out of it!!
Trade-In = $5300, I gave the guy a nasty look!!
Owed = $2000
Want to Buy
2008 KIA Sportage 2WD LX (for gas economy)
Sticker Price $17,000
After Discount and Rebates = $13,995
Good Deal Or Not?!?!!

Why??
The gas mileage is practically the same for both vehicles. City mpg is worse than the MSP.
KIA Sportage Stats
2.7L V6, 24 valve, 173 hp @ 6000 rpm
4 speed automatic transmission
19 mpg city / 25 mpg hwy

I don't think KIA's necessarily the way to go, unless your paying out right... I for one would kick myself in the pants each time I made a payment, plus they don't really hold their value so depending on how you set your financing up its easy to get upside down in a KIA loan... Just my 2cents, whatever floats your goat...

I think he meant he is getting the 2wd LX trim for its fuel economy, versus the other trims.

And with KIA, the parts to fix them are a LOT more $$ than other vehicles. Talking about normal parts here. You can't just find them anywhere. At least it was like that a few years ago..

Unless your buying it brand new for the full warranty, just get a demo or a used (like a year or two old) one. You will save a lot more money that way. Especially since Kia's depreciate quickly. Also, why would you buy a 2WD suv? In that case, just get a car it will be cheaper and better on gas. 2WD suvs are pointless.

i lost BIG money selling my msp last friday... but it had to go.
as for buying a FWD SUV.. don't ...period.
it,s a slow POS and you'll regret doing the swithc.. not saying to keep you msp.. but get something that's atleast AWD..
my Gf has a honda element.. for gas , it's not that good.. but it's AWD and goes rather nicely on highway and deep snow and all.. a great snowstorm machine.
im not saying to buy an element either.. more than half the people i know hate how it looks until they actually seat in it and drive it..
to sum it up.. dont buy soemthing you'll regret.. coming from an MSP, you'll find that most "normal" cars are crappy and boring to drive.

I dinno how relevant this is to your interests, but I've been eyeballing the Suzuki SX4 crossover for when the GF trades in her focus. Gas milage isn't incredible, but what you get for the price is hard to beat. They come fully loaded with AWD and a manual transmission for under $17k (starts at 13k for base FWD). And the reviews I've been reading have been surprisingly positive, especially when it comes to the fun-to-drive factor. Might be a good compromise between something practical, fun to drive, and inexpensive....

Thanks for all the replies guys. So this is what happened.
I went to the morries mazda dealership and they had a red MS3. Sticker price was $26,440. Man it was nice..darn thing is quick. Guy is willing to knock it down to $24,996, but was only giving me $6000 for my speed. There was no other incentives, and he stated that 0% financing is not available for the car. So I told him I'll think about it. So to make the story short, walked into a Honda dealership and bought a 08 Si Sedan (I like sedans) for a total of $14,886 OTD. They gave wanted to give me 7500 for my car but I wasn't happy unless I get $8,000. Half an hour later he told me that he had to sell an Si so he agreed. So that's about 1K lost from KBB, but my Speed was having tons of problems.
So all and all I am happy, and the Si is really fun to drive. Sure gonna miss my turkey!!! lol

si's are not that bad for the money, you just have to like the style of them. id keep it low profile and boost it.

I don't think most dealers are in a hurry make many good deals on the MS3 yet; if ever! A few lucky ones but not too many.
Sounds like you got a good deal...when they try to screw you on your trade that really kills any deal they try to make with the new car!

I disagree!! Depends on what suzuki's your talking about. There motorcycles can't be touched and Having owned several Suzuki samurai's I can vouch for the beating they will endure. Plus the sx4 is a great starting platform AWD, turbo!! Once they come out with a sedan, I'll pick one up, and build the crap out of it, and just drive the MSP in the summer
