I just bought my 03 msp and i noticed that my oil light comes on whenever i take any corner at 25+ mph. i assume this is normal? and more recently, my oil light has been on/off frequently from start - operating temperature, and then at random times too. is this something i should check out or what should i expect? i cant see any leaks of any kind, so i'm pretty sure that's not it.

Check your oil level on dipstick, you prolly really low on oil. when was the last time you changed your oil?

yeah, I'd stay off and hard cornering or agressive driving till you change the oil...

I agree with everyone else check the oil and add (if needed) ASAP even if you plan on doing a oil change here in a few days. If the oil level is fine... I would start looking into prices of oil pumps... checking the screen on the oil pickup ect ect.

when your driving does it sounds like there is no oil, you should hear loud valve tap then your probably really low on oil. If you hear like a loud obnoxious screeching noise it could possibly be your oil pump.
After you fill it with oil, like 30 mins to half an hour later mover the car and see if oil spills, then you may have an oil leak somewhere, like the valve cover gasket or the oil feed line or return line from your turbo may be the issue.
But def, like evilmonkeyMSP said, don't get on it hard and avoid aggressive driving and cornering.

Make sure the electrical connection to the stock oil pressure sensor is on firmly before you start going too far. However, because you say this only happens during sharp turns and at startup it does seem like a symptom of a low oil level.

it didn't sound like there was any noise, and trust me, that is a scary sound. i built a Ford 400 and heard that on the 1st start :-S I did add a quart that morning and everything was fine. i guess i was just low, there wasn't too much oil that came outta my pan on that oil change. do our cars go through oil fairly quickly? or was it just something that the previous owner may have done? i'm at 125k miles, which is way to high for me, but it was a killer deal.

depends on how the car was treated by the previous owners really. I know my P5 had 170k on it when i traded it in for my p5 and it didnt burn any oil. Well I thought it did but I replaced teh PVC valve, oil presure sensor and everythign was fine. Not 100% sure on the turbo engines.

Just like StealthWyvern said, depends on how the previous owner treated it. If you can, get someone to hit the throttle and you stand at the rear and see if any smoke comes out the exhaust. Just to make sure you dont have a horrible leak. If you do see smoke, you may wanna check out your valve cover gasket, if there is a smoke everytime the person hits the throttle could possibly be a valve stem seal on the head.
Keep track of how many quarts of oil you put in also.

well i know this car was most likely raced or modded a bit, because it does have the Injen CAI and also I've found the remains of a Greddy boost controller, the engine and trans mounts have definitely had their abuse, but other than that, the rest of the little problems are, of course, some dings and a LOT of steering wheel wear on the left side. i think for $6900 it was a killer deal though.
