First of all, let me say im learning so much about cars (im a computer nerd)

Second, yes. i was in a hurry.

OK OK on to the story...

So, im putting new vac. lines on, to replace the old crack hard ass crap ones. I decide to finally get rid of my turkey and move the BOV line to the brake line, instead of the line for the wastegate. well i couldnt find a recuder coupler to go from that big to that small (hehe) so i find this "other" line, looks like vacuum to me!.

I follow the line a bit, looks to be dedicated, SWEET. * snip * OH SHIT GAS IS COMIN OUT OF THIS HOSE! (bang) (bang)

So, ya....... that wasnt a vacuum line. aaaaaaaaaaaaand its about 100$ for a new one, overnighted (which wont be here till monday...) LOL

(lurk)

Just a random sampling of appropiate smilies for your blunder....

Hope the fix goes smooth...sucks you gotta wait all weekend, but hell, gives you plenty of time to finish those vacuum lines...

ill call around all the junk yards tomorrow looking.

anyone know if there are other mazdas that use the same lines? they have these quick connectors on them. I would think lots of newer mazdas use the same style, but hell....probably not

Haha, I did the same thing as the OP while I was taking my stock intake manifold off. Kinda freaked out, but calmed down when I found out it was an easy fix. :)

I once hooked up jumper cables backwards when my buddy was giving me a jump... he asked why there was smoke coming off his battery while I was in my car wondering why it wasn't starting!

(there should be a thread for this stuff)

You could have just searched. There is plenty on indepth threads about tapping your brake booster like and where to do it.

Edit: I just noticed how disgusting your avatar is! 2 girls, 1 cup

maybe you should read my post... i said i couldnt find a recuder for the big line to the smaller BOV line. so i "found" a different source. THE GAS LINE. I know wtf a break booster line looks like. Used it to do sea foam treatment... Just obvoulsy dont know what a gas line looks like...

He was just trying to make a point, search lots before doing anything. We've all made mistakes before. On the Lancer I used to own I punched a hole in the radiator when uninstalling the turbo kit because I thought I could short cut pulling the radiator out.

FYI, name calling, especially a respected veteran forum member, isn't going to earn you any points.

i just get tired of everyone always saying "OMG USE THE SEARCH" on every question asked. i understand its been asked/done/made before. last i checked this wasnt a thread on asking HOW to do something.... doing a search on how to tap into the line wouldnt have done anything.

the posts saying DO A SEARCH are more worthless then the original posts people make asking for help

Well dickweed, remember when I answered all of your PMs last week? Provided you with links etc? Oh how quickly we forget. I was saying it would be good to search because there are pictures and all types of different vac setups that could help you out. In addition you have to tap the brake booster to the right of the check valve. Not to mention, all of the countless information within those threads that could be useful sometime down the road.

most stupid thing I ever done is closod the trunk, got in the car and realized I had left a screw driver in the engine bay.....it was sticking out from the side of the hood.....

I understand that there is a lot of useful information in them. which is why i do searches...but when your parts stores dont have the right things then the searches dont help much do they? Maybe i should have done a search as to why my local parts store didnt have the parts i need to do the vac line like i wanted. maybe that would have gotten me some answers on what i was working on...

Your right, maybe i should have stopped what i was doing and came to make sure that line was not a gas line... (braindead)

and ya, i owe you a (bj) for the help... sure thing

Or you can do a search, figure out the part you need to do the job correctly, order the parts and do it right the first time around. Then you wouldn't be rigging your car together. Its always best to do it right the first time around. It will save you a lot time AND money (like what just happened to you, funny how that works). However, you can do things your own way, cutting fuel lines, and having down time like an ass wipe. Your call though.

Ha, that just reminded me. I left a brand new roll of electrical tape under my hood when I had my Lancer. Next morning when I got to work I was like "What's the burning smell ... and why is there smoke coming from my engine compartment ... oh $hit!!! ... oh, that's were I left the electrical tape, and it's toast now because it fell in between turbo and engine compartment."
