I've just bought a 03 protege 5. So far, i'm liking the little car. last year, i ordered and bought a brand new Honda Fit, and the car was so uncomfortable i sold it..it was awful. Performance was good, but comfort, ugh.

The protege was a trade in at a dealer. I bought the extended warranty. In order to make the ext. warranty full coverage, it was wise of me to do recommended maintenance, so that the warranty people couldn't ever say that a break down was due to negligence.. so i changed fluids and filters. did a trans. fluid and filter too. Spent the bucks and had the timing belt and water pump done, i travel a lot, and that seemed like cheap enough "insurance" to me.

under the warranty, the shop changed the radiator, it was cracked and was leaking.

also, the control switch for the a/c didn't engage the compressor on #2. So they changed that.

all ok, but now my radio light doesn't come on at night.

something bumped in the dash guts...I don't want to make too big of a deal, as i found a 6cd factory radio and will be installing that shortly...but want to know if i should look for light problem in wiring or fuse..

I bought a protege roof rack from ebay, the parts are all there, nice transaction, but at www.protegefaq.net/tsb/09-002-03.html it doesn't appear that my car is equipped to handle this rack...i have to little access slide things on top of my car (no sun roof), but no way does it look like this rack with all the plastic stuff is going to bolt right in. at that protegefaq site, they had a button for applicable vins but no information was forthcoming. am i just better off buying a thule or yakima? I can take pictures of what I have and post them somewhere.

sorry so long...i have a few issues to work out, and love forums specific to a model...i drive a honda odyssey too and that odyclub.com forum is awesome.

thanks.

Welcome!
When they install the new head unit tell them about the light in the radio not working. It is a seperate wire from the lights to dim it. If the dash work cut or shorted the wire - they blew a fuse. Check all fuses. If good - the radio may have just failed internally. Not uncommon.
