Hey guys. I sold my GMC Typhoon today :(...a sad day for me. Now I will be entering the world of mazdas. I saw a P5 for sale in autotrader (http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?ct=u&car_id=246894499&dealer_id=74860&car_year=2002&model=PROTE5&num_records=25&systime=&make2=&start_year=1981&keywordsfyc=&keywordsfyc=&keywordsrep=&keywordsrep=&engine=&certified=&body_code=0&fuel=&awsp=false&search_type=both&distance=50&marketZipError=false&search_lang=en&make=MAZDA&keywords_display=&color=&page_location=findacar%3A%3Aispsearchform&min_price=&drive=&default_sort=priceDESC&max_mileage=&style_flag=1&sort_type=priceDESC&address=75080&advanced=&end_year=2009&doors=&transmission=&max_price=&cardist=14) the other day and went to check it out. I test drove it and everything seemed pretty well. The link is above...tell me what you think. I am going to check it out more thoroughly tomorrow and maybe even buy it. Are these cars usually priced that low? Do these cars last a long time without any major mechanical problems? I will be taking it up to school with me in Kansas and that is a 500 mile trip. Will the P5 be able to handle that trip with a few hundred pounds of clothes and other shit in the back? I'm not sure what faults I should look for in mazdas as I have never bought one before...so I'm just looking for the usual used car problems right now. I am looking forward to having one of these fun cars.

Seems pricy, I mean I almost bought a MSP with 30k less miles on here for $7,500 lol. Looks nice tho.

Well, I bought my 2002 Vivid Yellow P5 2 months ago for 6200.00 & I like it alot so far. I'm coming out of a 2005 Mustang GT so I can identify with the power downgrade. You will love the handling for sure. And really , once the car is rolling & into it's powerband it zips along pretty well. I always have my 3 kids in it with their sports gear etc.. and it goes just fine. Can't argue with 30 mpg either! 7450.00 isn't a bad price. Mine has a few more miles on it. I'd try and bargain a bit though. Good luck!

Typhoon to this..you will be one disappointed dude.
But hey...Welcome.
I bought mine for cheaper, but it needed brake work and some bumper work. I just drove to Florida (~1200 miles) with no problem. Just hit 90K miles.
The ride is fine and the car is light on its toes.

haha yeah I know man. It sucks but I needed to do it. Gas is a killer now and the ty couldn't really handle the 500 mile trip up to Kansas. It is more a stoplight king as you probably know. I really didn't want to sell it...I was heartbroken. (sad2)

Don't worry about the road trip. Ive driven my P5 from Texas to Ohio, 1200 miles, 3 times now always loaded to the roof with crap and it did fine. Still got 30 mpg too with the AC blasting the whole time.
