i went today to pick up a friend from a bus stop. He got in and said it was a nice looking wagon (i was slightly offended, but oh well). The bus stop was at a three-way about 100-150 feet from another three-way. It was pretty busy due to 5 PM traffic. I'm at this intersection trying to make a left, waiting for a spot. I say "well, guess I'm gonna have to squeeze in somewhere". My passenger says "Huh?". I find a second of space and get into it while making the left. I got into second gear and i actually get the front driver wheel to bark (TCS was on... huh, who would've thought it...). I finish the turn, feel the weight of the car even out, and get into third almost simultaneously. Third breezes by, then into fourth. I get to about 55 when i peek over and he's white-knuckling the "oh-sh@!" bar. Started cruising and turned my head to look at him, and he plays it off by moving his hand to the roof (had windows down). I tried hard not to laugh, but couldn't help it. Anyone else have an experience like this?

Lmao I love to get on it when someone new gets into my car. The other day I was driving my boss around, I was babying the car as not to scare her.

She then states "I'm going to get my son one of these, they are so nice, is there anything I should know about these cars?"

I'm like, "They go fast."

Boss, "But its a station wagon."

I down shift, let the SRI start sucking air and watch the torque push her back in her seat as she reaches for something to hold on.

I was laughing so hard. Her face was priceless.

hahaha that's awesome! a co-worker and i went to lunch the other day in my car. this conversation starts in the parking lot then goes to a short straightaway. here's how that went:

her: oh man.. i like your car better than sara's (Mazda 3 sedan). it's cuter
me: haha oh. good.. i guess
her: so why do you call your's a "speed"?
me: i dunno. it makes me feel cooler i guess
her: is it faster than sara's?
me: um.. *stomps gas, goes through gears smoother than ever before* *get to 80-ish mph in nothing flat*
her: *scared* holy sh!t!! your car's AWESOME!!

Ask your passenger to change radio stations, and just when the hand is stretched out to the radio, drop a gear and go for it, and see what happens to the hand. ;)

I needed my wife's truck one day so we swapped vehicles. She took a couple of friends out to lunch. They went around a corner hurrying to beat a light and one of the ladies says, voice shaking, "I've been on this ride at the amusement park. I didn't like it there either!"

When we were car shopping, the salesman tossed me the keys to a black MS3 and told me to have a good time (I'm older and look responsible, lawl). Knowing I wasn't going to buy that very car, I hammered on that bitch. My girlfriend's left knuckles went white grabbing the seat bolster and she had death's grip on the oh-shit bar when I punched it in 1st and 2nd. She was actually scared of the car. :D Thus when I told her that an intake would make it louder and faster, she wasn't too keen on the idea at first. 1,800 miles later, I think she's used to it now.

nice! I have turbo envy. When I accelerate in my P5, my wife laughs at me and asks where the rest of my engine is. I feel so much shame. (sad2)

I know when I rode in an MS3 with intake, I was stunned at how much it pushed me back in the seat. It felt like it pulled harder than the 350Z's I'd driven.

My stepson (who just turned 13) once made the remark in front of my in-laws that he was afraid the car was going to tip over. I rolled my eyes, shook my head slowly at the idiot child and calmly said, "you're trying to make people think I go speeding around with you in the car. Trust me, you have no idea how fast that car is."
What kind of 13 year old boy doesn't get in a car like that and first thing out of his mouth is, "how fast can it go? Show me!"
Sometimes I worry about that kid.

Had a coworker with me last week. I was pulling out of a parking lot, telling him about the great ride, MPG, extra room with the seats down, etc, then I say "Oh, then there's this" (stomped on the gas in second gear and it squeals most of the way through, chirps into 3rd). His resonse? "HOOOOOOLY SHIT!!! WHHHHAA DA HELL IS THIS THING?"

He now wants me to stop by his place on the way home so that he can convince his wife to get one.

I stood there until she did. LOL! Dude, that made my day!

Two stories:

1. I had a company meeting at one of our clients and our marketer is late as usual. So I say I'll drive. Same thing everyone else said here; she gets in and says nice car (at least she did not call it cute or a wagon). Needless to say, we made it right on time. She was impressed and now refers to it as "the racecar". When we get back to the clinic, one of my co-workers saw me peel out of the parking lot with her getting her paperwork together and said they saw her neck snap backward. Good thing I'm a physical therapist! :)

2. My wife regularly white knuckles it when I merge on the on-ramp at 80 mph in 4th gear. There's this steady Woooooooooo....... sound coming from her side as this goes on, with the occasional "oh my God!". If I didn't know better, I'd think we were having sex! :)

as i was getting out of my car this conversation began

CEO: So you got a new car?
Me: Yes
CEO: and we are racing to work now?
Me: wouldnt be much of a race
CEO: I dont know this thing has a big powerful engine

This thread is cracking me up, haha.

So I have my cousin in the car for the first time. And she was asking the normal new car questions, since she has never seen, even though I've had it for 6 months. (How much did you pay, why did you go with the hatch, etc...)

Then I tell her that it's not a normal Mazda3, and it's the Mazdaspeed3.

Her: "What's the difference"

Me: "Well for one thing, it has a turbo"

Her: "What's a turbo?"

Me: "..."

Me: "I'm not going to get into it, I guess I can just show you"

So we enter the on ramp, and I down shift to second, and let it rip. Before you know it, we're going 80.

I look over and she has this worried look on her face.

Her: "I DONT LIKE IT! I FEEL LIKE I'M IN A RACE CAR!!!"

When I first got the car my son was just about to turn 3 and my daughter had just turned 1 (yeah, I have 2 baby seats in the back). My son always used to tell me to go faster . . . I almost got busted by the cops one time because of him and his "Go faster daddy . . . FASTER!!"

One time, I had the two kids in the car and I was about to turn a corner when another car made me have to make a sharper/faster turn that I wanted. Thankfully, the kids have their 5 point harnesses and are strapped in better than me . . . all I saw out of the corer of my eye as I was turning was my kids arms flailing looking for something to grab onto. At that exact moment I thougt "oh man, what have I done?" I turned around to look at both kids and they both had huge smiles on their faces . . . I said "you guys okay?" and my son said "can we do that again!" . . . I love my kids. I swear, they're gonna get me in trouble with the law . . .

All these posts about moms are making me nostalgic. Mine passed back in 74 and until my brother got into seriously fast cars, she held the family record for the trip from our home to our cottage (just west of Boston to halfway down Cape Cod) driving a 9 year old 4 door cutlass sedan. I did the math and figured we had to have averaged 90mph for the trip door to door. We once went over a bridge (a steep bridge, true) in a Corvair and came over the other side with the front wheels off the ground. My Mom would have loved this car. In fact, I probably would have had to fight her for the keys.

Shortly after buying the car, I went to go pickup my wife's best friend from school. Taking the on-ramp to get onto the highway, I calmly told her "You should hold onto your soda..." and proceeded to rip through the gears. By the time she felt comfortable enough to open her eyes again, we were already merged onto the highway and doing over 90mph.

1) So my Dad comes out to watch me autocross. The course starts out with a 5 cone non directional slalom. Then it has a long sweeping left hand turn coming up to a left hand hairpin… Blah blah blah….. So I inform my dad (that had only ridden in the car once whne I was still breaking in the motor) that we can have a co pilot. I strap the un suspecting father of mine in the car and hand him a helmet. He asks what is this for… I tell him, it is for safety. I get the signal to go, hit the slalom, then go sliding into the long left sweeper. Under steer is mildly presnt, then the rear end starts walking out… No biggie. I glance over at my dad, gripping the seat and oh shit bar screaming “Oh Shit Rob…. Oh Shit!” Needless to say, he was not interested in the next heat.

2) My grandfather is in his 80’s. I decently good health. I am merging onto the freeway, not even going into boost. He says, “Wow Rob, this car is pretty quick”. I tell him to take a deep breath and hold on. I drop it 2 gears and floor it… Just long enough to look over and see the old flappy skin on his cheeks being pushed back and wavy like he is standing in a wind tunnel.

My twin sister rode in my car once after I installed the MS CAI and Forge BPV. I got on it a little and when she heard it, she was like,"What was that sound? It sounds like your car is breaking." Then I just laughed.

And I let my friend drive my car on the freeway, we were going like 65 mph in 6th gear and he punches it a little to 80 and he was like, "Dude, this thing pulls in top gear! What did you do?" Then I told him, man, you haven't driven a car with torque in awhile.

Great thread, really. a coworker, and good friend now describes me as psssssshtiiinngggg while acting out the shifting motion. He is a musclecar guy and rightly so. It has been has been said, if you go to lunch with Eric you might get back before lunch break even started. I know my coworkers are just being nice to me. But that is ok. My son who is 22 asked me to start it up for his buddies, and I left him to describe with enthusiasm the modifications as if this car was one of the fastest cars around. You guy have great stories! Heehee, awesome thread. It brings a smile to one's face seeing hwo much it surprises people. >:D A couple different stories of my own:

1. Last year my mother and father were down visiting my brother and I. My father is all about domestic cars and didn't think too highly about my purchase of the Speed at the time. I offered to let my father take the Speed out for a drive. He agrees and we get in and head out towards one of the local highways. He merges normally off the on-ramp, the entire time I'm thinking 'Just push the damn thing!'. We get going down the highway and he's just cruising at 65ish when a truck decides to try and pass. He gives the Speed a little gas and the turbo kicked in pushing us both back a little into our seats. Looking over right quick I saw that content grin on his face and all he says is 'Well, guess he's not passing us...' Shortly after that we got off the highway and headed back to my brother's and dropped my father off so my mother could take a spin in it. All my father said to me, with a straight face, when he got out was 'Well...it's a nice little car....' then he headed inside. Later I talked with my wife and she told me that once my father got in the house there was a wide grin on his face and he kept on going on about the Speed.

2. My brother, a friend of his, and I were heading home from a concert and it was about midnight-ish and we had taken my car. Driving down the highway and coming out out of a city we come up to a Jetta 2.L Turbo. I went to pass him and he decided to speed up, so I press on the gas a bit more. Soon enough, we're both floating around 90, neither of us deciding to punch any further due to the corner up ahead (a long, lazy corner, but a corner none the less). The Jetta slows down some and my I keep on the same amount of throttle. My braces himself and grabs the 'Oh S***' handle as we start to enter the corner. He let's out a nervous "Um... Tom?.." and all I reply with is "Don't worry. I've got it." The Speed stuck like a bug on fly paper and I chuckled a little after the corner and looked over to see my brother still gripping the handle. A few seconds later his from says from the back "That was fun..."

sweet I have a couple of stories of my own but pretty much to the same extent. Unsuspecting friends. My father is most definetly one of the people that wasn't expecting it. He had driven the car once when the car was stock, after all the mods and I had the CPE ems at 18 he wouldn't even let me take him out in it anymore. Thats how scared of it he was... Don't knw why??? Whats funny, is that my mother is always asking me "what else have you done?, take me to the grocery store..."...lmao My mother loves it. Weird...

A buddy of mine always called the Mazda3 a girls car. So he would always joke on me that I drive a girls car. He was never serious, but I don't think he knew just how fun the MS3 was. He's a great photographer, so after snapping some pics of my car I give him a ride. By the end of the ride he was really impressed. I just thought it was funny that about 60 seconds in a parking lot can change his mind :D.

on the 4th of july right after the fireworks i was drving a few friends home. my buddy and his girl where in the back seat (she had never been in my car). my buddy informed me that he had "a little rumbling in his belly" and needed to visit a toilet asap, and a gas station wouldnt do.

So being the good friend I am, I weaved my way through traffic with some VERY spirirted take-offs and got him home in time to do 'his business'. The entire time, he was yelling at me to go faster and his girlfriend kept yelling at me to slow down or she was gonna get sick. When we got home she got out and looked at her boyfriend and said "I'm NEVER getting in that thing again"

i had a co-worker in my car this weekend and took him to a few spots. we first got in the vehicle and i just cruised around the neighborhood until we got to the freeway and i opened the shit up.

srsly opened it up. it was nice :)

anyway, i get going on the freeway about 80-90 mph and he looks over and says to me, "the only thing stopping your car is your shifting."

i said yes, and smiled.

Alright, my parents showed up unexpectedly at the last autocross I went to. Couldn't talk my dad in to going for a ride but I was able to get my mom in the car with a helmet on. So we take off and before every turn she's like, "Oh God John, slow down". In the middle of the run she said, "I don't like this John". Funny thing is, when it was all over she couldn't stop laughing hysterically and at the same time saying she would never do that again. She also said she was ready to go home and that I should call it a day and go home too. (I'm 28 mind you) Good times.

Buy him a 3 cyl Geo Metro for his first car. That'll teach him to embrace his inner turtle.

I take offense to that statement sir!

1)Driving the girlfriend and her friend and bf, he knows its the speed3 and he starts saying "I can't hear the exhaust, and I thought these things were fast, wtf, you sure you didnt get a badge and just slapped it on?"

So I drop a gear and start passing light traffic, in 3rd sending all 3 of them to the seatback, and grabbing the O-Shi bar. I replied back "Does that answer your question?" He drives a Nissan 2 door V6... I think its an Altima or Maxima... Don't really care.

2) Same people, different cars involved. We had just left the movie theater and it was raining hard, they had parked by the closest parking lot, and since I knew it was going to rain, I parked in the garage.

They take the alternate route with the light that changes to green the fastest meanwhile I got stuck behind people who can't drive 20mph when it rains.

I get a little bit mad and start pushing my way out of traffic, and speed past my friend. 5 minutes later he calls me to tell me to hurry up, cause there was another CBMS3 up ahead, and he wanted me to race it. I tell him to pull up next to it to see who the driver is. The look on his face was priceless cause he was starting to whine saying that "I was waiting for you, cause i didnt want you kids to get lost in my part of town"

Suffice to say, he's never ridden in my car since that day.

3)Had to pick up girlfriend's friends to drop them off at her house for a surprise birthday party. There was an accident on the main road, and traffic was heavy... I didn't see that many people take the side road that has curves a plenty, so i decided to go for it.

4 friends in the car, they protested as to why I was going AWAY from my gf's place, and I told them to shut up and enjoy the ride.

CONFLICT, one of them likes speed, one of them gets carsick, the other one is screaming for their life.

One of these turns is a corkscrew turn, like at laguna seca speed limit on that turn is 20mph.

I take it fast and all I hear from the back seat is "wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" "OMG I think I'm gonna throw up" "WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE!!" and the one going "Wheee" had the biggest smile on her face.

I slow down and park to let the turbo cool down and we all get out of the car.
carsick girl is trying to recover, and wheee girl is saying "do it again" carsick girl ends up throwing up her lunch, and scarred for life is saying that "i now know why your gf respects you as a driver"

So in closing, Yes scaring unsuspecting passengers FTW.

Not exactly unsuspecting, but still fun. My wife and I usually take her truck, because we're both big people and let's face it the car is a little small. The other night we had to drop off a quilt she made for a charity auction and weren't sure how to get to the place so she Google mapped it. Her truck was low on gas and we were in a hurry so I got to drive.
Google brought us in by a tight, winding little back road. It was a residential area, but the road was so winding that no one sane was going to get close to the speed limit. I'm in second gear just blasting (relatively speaking) up and down hills, through these tight little turns with a grin you couldn't remove with an axe and thinking that this would be even more fun if it wasn't for the driveways, because then I could actually push it a bit. Just as I think this, my wife looks at me with a little smile and that tolerant look that only a woman who knows you well and loves you anyway can give and says, "you are having way too much fun."

First time passengers never expect this little hatch to be this scary fast. Facial expressions of passengers, especially when accelerating to get on the freeway, or driving through curvy mountain roads, makes me want to put a hidden camera aimed at a front passenger... (shocked)

We got out on a country road and she asked me if she could "punch it" and I said sure...
She was in 2nd around 2500rpm, "punched it" and made it into 3rd and about 5000rpm. Her response was "Holy shit, you are gonna get a lot of tickets!"

I have a great one... Me and a freind were driving down a 3 lane divided highway here in Michigan. We had a black Cobalt SS pull up with 3 pretty decent looking younger women in the car. Sure enough they wanted to play. They were revving back and forth. My buddy was cranking his next to look at them and wave when I decided enough was enough and they needed to see what it was all about. So, from third at 55 I hammered it down. By the time I got to 5th and well over 100 mph I could hear him wimpering. As we were slowing he was just said, "dam man, you couldnt tell me? My neck popped something fierce and Now I cant move my head back and forth". Unreal... Sure enough, went to the chiro the next day to get adjusted. I felt bad but laugh my ass off. He tells the story better than I but it is a good one!

At the time I was car shopping, I was explaining to my girlfriend a few car choices I was considering. Mainly the MS3, Used WRX, or an 08' Lancer GTS. I tried explaining the differences between turbo'd cars..and non. The only conclusion she made from the discussion was always the fact that I had to use premium gasoline.

Anyhow, fast forward to the past 5 month's I've owned the car. At first I would take her for rides on the highway and show her what the car could do. I would mostly gun it in a straight line down the highway in 4th, which would always result in a smile.

About a month ago, she moved from her parents house into a new apartment. From her apartment, there's an on-ramp to 95S. This is the on-ramp of all on-ramps. Twists probably a full 300 degrees down down onto the highway, very sharply. The first time I had taken the on-ramp, she gave me a fore-warning about 100 yards before the ramp that it was hella-sharp.

Naturally, I mildly smirk..and turn the wheel ever so slightly to the left before sharply turning a sweeping right onto the ramp going about 70. Her hand immediately grabs the "oh-shit" handle and starts screaming "Hooollyy shiiiit, we're goiiing to diiiiiiie." The car sticks amazingly through the entire 300 degress (<3 Cobb Springs) and I merge smoothly onto the highway like nothing ever happened. I look over to see the biggest smile on her face, grinning from ear to ear. Needless to say, that on-ramp is a staple of my weekends back home in CT :D

So I go to dinner with my family one night, and during dinner my aunt and uncle are giving me a hard time about buying the MS3. Warnings about speeding tickets and being an irresponsible (26 year old) kid.

So we leave, and pull out onto the road, only to hit the first light side by side, front of the line. My aunt rolls down her window and yells "Want to race?!" at me. I smirk.

Light turns green, I pace my uncle as he pulls away from the light. I'm driving home my mom, and she's never been in my car before. She sees me pacing to Cobalt, looks over at me and says "I thought you said this thing was fast? You can't even beat their Cobalt!"

I had just shifted into second, and I look over at her and say "... you just asked for it." So I stomp on it, hit the highway on ramp, shift to third, and blast on up into 4th before backing off at about 120 km/h (75 mph for you yanks). She was screaming for me to slow down the whole time, it was fantastic.

She really did ask for it, though.

I went up to Richmond VA over the weekend to visit a friend. I was telling him about the mazdaspeed3 the last time I was up there...right before I bought it. He's a "car-guy" and drives a 2007 Audi A4 Quattro.

Well, we were driving across town and I hadn't yet opened up the ms3. He was telling me that his dealership was offering base model A4s for high $20's. I told him they were too slow for me :) He asked how many horsepower and how much torque my car has (it's still stock). I told him and he said, "Holy Shit!...Yeah, then you won't be happy with an A4".

A couple of minutes later, we saw a 2009 nissan maxima ahead of us. We were about 12-14 car-lengths back in the next lane. I mentioned that they were nice looking cars. He said, "Well, if you would catch up to him, maybe I would be able to tell!" I gave it some gas and within a couple of seconds we were next to the maxima. To this he commented, "And that right there, my friend, is why I would rather have your car than his..."

Hahaha... just had an unsuspecting passenger...

so my friend just came back up from LA to SF after he finished up some summer school. he hadn't been in my ms3 yet since I bought it while he was down south. he calls me up tonight and we kicked it for a while (he had his own car atm) but we head back to his place and he asks for a ride in the car. this dude loves leanin when hes sittin so he gets in my car and reclines back pretty damn far (hes just chillin he had been drinkin earlier in the night). its lightly raining and I just moderately take him through the local streets and head on to the free way. basically soft launch from 2nd and row through up to about 85 (just a pure straight away). as i get off the freeway dude had reclined his seat back up and just kept uttering "holy shit this car is quick" over and over. I drop him off and he stands there and watches me drive off (he loved the sound of the stock exhaust). I come back home, and he had already im'ed me and said "dude, your car is fucking quick".

Car loaded up with myself and four passangers...all of whom have been in the car before. Driving up an on ramp onto the highway I floored it in second and gave out a nice round of heart attacks. One of my friends asked me nicely not to do that without warning because it really hurt his back. His girlfriend said nothing but sat their giggling for about 20 minutes. I couldn't believe how fast it was with 5 people in it. It was good because I had everyone's support when anoter friend tried telling everone how his R32 is so much faster than the speed. He was all alone with that statement. We haven't raced, but it is the concensus of everyone that the speed is faster than my friends 2004 R32 and my other friends 2008 evo x. He hops in and says "Yeah, I'm glad to see you're getting something practical instead of the hotrods you've always had. It just proves that your priorities are changing as you're getting older. Remember when you said that you wouldn't drive anything other than a hotrod?" That short paragraph was followed by a quick 1, 2, 3 going out onto the highway... "JEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESUS!!!" was all he could say. As we pulled into the grocery store parking lot, I said "... you were saying???"

No, but it's damn close (even) from a roll and with an intake the speed3 is actually a bit faster. I think the EVO X MR only runs about 13.8 in the 1/4, faster than us but not by too much. Not saying that makes the EVO X any less of a car or anything because I would still love to have one. Power to weight ratio is almost identical between the EVO X and the MS3.

happy and angry
07-28-2008, 01:06 PM
The numbers don't support that. It runs about 13.5@103 in the 1/4 and sub-5 second 0-60. If you look at the C&D comparison tests:

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/hatchbacks/2007_mazdaspeed_3_vs_2008_subaru_impreza_wrx_2008_ volvo_c30_t5_comparison_test

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/comparison_test/hatchbacks/subaru_wrx_sti_vs_mitsubishi_evo_gsr_vs_vw_r32_com parison_test

The Evo bests the MS3 in 5 - 60 rolling starts, 30 - 50 roll ons, and 50 - 70 roll ons. Plus there is no way the MS3 can keep up on a track. I'm not sure by which metric you could ever call the MS3 faster.

The numbers don't support that. It runs about 13.5@103 in the 1/4 and sub-5 second 0-60. If you look at the C&D comparison tests:

It doesent really matter what is faster, if I wanted a faster car I would have gotten the caliber srt4, but it is ugly and poorly built, but who cares, this is a thread about having fun and enjoying the MS3 not about bragging rights and who is right or wrong, so please back on topic, end of rant(blah)

I became the unsuspecting passenger....sitting in the passenger seat and not knowing when someone is gonna stomp on it gives you a whole different angle on things

last night i over indulged and my buddy drove me home in my car. he was the only one at the gathering that had a manual and its an old S10. he had never been in my car before, let alone drive it. needless to say we took the long way home and he was grinning from ear to ear, meanwhile my drunk ass was grabbing the oh shit handle in the twisties.

Relax man, not saying it is, I love my MS3, just going strictly by hp ratings 285 vs 263, not by handling or anything else, the ms3 spanks the caliber six ways from sunday, just wanted to get thread back on topic, sorry

Sweet...(hump)

I got a story, yesterday went to gamestop and there just so happened to be a, what do you know, an srt4 caliber in line at the mcd's. Parked had about 10 minutes before they opened. Asshole new what I was driving but had no idea that I was the sleeper I am. Drives by me slow, mind you I have dark tints and it was a muggy morning here in Miami yesterday, revs up his engine...my friend tells me, "yo, rev that shit, blow him out of the water"...of course I do and the guy just speed off like he wanted nothing to do with me. Mind you, he had an unsuspecting kind of cute chick with him....buahahahahahahaaha!!!

That's the GSR version; it's lighter and can get off the line quicker. Can’t just go off of one set of magazine stats but that’s beside the point. Also, those test were done in "top gear" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Gear - It doesn't take a MS3 10.6 secs to get from 30-50 mph when the goal is to go as fast as possible so your mag racing has failed you. Is this really the method you go about in determining which car wins from a roll? lol! like I said in real life they're close from a roll and I never mentioned anything about a MS3 keeping up with an EVO on the track.

Back on topic, I took my boss out of a ride and nearly gave him whiplash.

I'd say the Evo out performs the Speed3 in everything except quality of the interior. I was test driving a few used Evo8s and 9s before I picked up the 3. The Evo handled and pulled better, but the interior was lacking. However, I'd say a 3 with a few mods could easily keep up with an Evo.

Another good thread soon to be in the dumpster due to the MS3 vs Evo vs WRX vs cobalt vs SRT. Can we just have one sticky for all these useless debates? I for one am tired of it.

Sure.

As to the rest of your post: way to tip your hand MS3077! You were doing so well with this user, too. If you're going to keep arguing take it to PMs so I can more easily ignore you, and to stop cluttering up this thread.

As to the guy who said "GET BACK ON TOPIC." No offense, but I don't find unrealistic comparisons between our car - which is a very very fast car - and other faster cars all that "topical" either. I'd like people to have a fair appreciation as to the performance of our vehicle, and saying we can in any way hang with the Evo X is out there. We can probably almost pace with it from a roll in third (just like we can almost pace an STI), but this is in no way a worth while performance metric.

As for unsuspecting passengers! A new story because why the hell not. I had someone in my car the other day that thought it was just a Mazda3 hatchback. I stomped it at a light and ripped up to about 45, which got a nice "Ooooooh shiiii - " reaction and a grabbing for the holy shit bars. I love it when I get to do that.

In the real world full throttle burst of speed in 2nd-6th gear is a very worth while "performance metric" to consider. This is what surprises people the most about this car, its abundance of torque makes for very quick acceleration as long as launching isn’t put into the equation.

Note: I AM NOT COMPARING

To be honest there is no comparison between the new camry and the MS3, but you have to admit the new camry rockets from 0-60 in a shockingly fast manner for a family sedan :)
