I'm going to make a custom cold air or short RAM intake for my protege. Its a 2.0l LX with automatic transmission. I was wondering if anyone could show a picture of an AEM or Injen one so i can decide the best place to put the filter (I`m thinking just to the side of the radiator). Also do you think i would be able to use the K&N filter for the 2002 and 03 proteges, because they are way easier for me to get my hands on around here.

i noticed a little hole in the engine compartment on the drivers side its where the windshield wiper fluid is on the other side, and its partially blocked by a coolant tank. im thinking i might put the intake pipe through there and have the filter in the space between the engine compartment and wheel well, it would probably be pretty cool in there (temp wise lol). My only worry is that the engines movement would wreck it but i think the ribbed part of the original intake behind the O2 sensor should take care of that, what do you guys think?

That's where most of the aftermarket CAI's route their piping and house the pod filter down in the wheel well, so yeah it's a good place to draw your air from.
