I'd like to install an aftermarket remote ttrunk release on my wifes 2004 Mazda 3 GT? ( I think, it has the leather interior, larger engine)
I have found a few solenoid packages for under $100, but have not seen many reviews.
Has anybody done this with their Mazda or other vehicle? Did you have to use a new remote or additional one? Any tips or tricks?
These are great cars and I drive it as much as she allows, but thought that this would be a great feature that maybe should have come standard.
Thanks

Do you mean as it one that fully-opens it for you? That's going to be a lot of fabrication.
As for just unlocking it, just click the "Unlock" button on your remote twice.

No, just popping it. Not opening up all the way.
But now, clicking the remote twice only unlocks the doors, it doesn't pop the trunk.
I know there are devices that not only pop the trunk but also open it all the way. I just want to pop the trunk open.
Thanks
Zack

My mistake, thought that you were talking about a hatchback and/or that the sedan's trunk also opens with the double-unlock just like the hatch does.

What some people have done is hooked up a solenoid to the trunk lock to one of the back doors. Then whenever you push unlock twice you pop the trunk. Also I believe the same people have moved the other doors so that one click unlock all the doors, and two unlocks all the doors and the trunk pops.

Hi icspots: I have been reading your post as currently I am trying to hookup my ipod to my 2005 mazda3 4-Door. Now I saw this post as I am searching to install remote trunk opener. As you have said in this post can you please tell me how this can be done? or provide a link where I can get the details.
