really weird, just coming out of a neighborhood I start off normally when all of a sudden I hear a very weird noise from the transmission and the car only goes at like 5mph or it start to make the funny noise and clutch slips. So I drive it to the nearest place to park and check it. After that all I can do is rev it in any gear, but it will not go anywhere. Im thinking LSD is gone since I have almost 70k on the car, and Ill be honest...I do race it every now and then.
Took it to the mechanic, he opened the tranny and said the clutch is destroyed. Very weird since it only has 15k miles at the most. I dont launch the car over 2k rpms since all I do is spin, so I dont know what happened. No burnouts or anything that can put a lot of pressure on it.
Oh well, the mechanic recommended a "Brute Force" Clutch, so hopefully this one will last.

it is crazy but at least it wasn't your lsd. did you follow the recommended break in procedure? who makes that brute force set?

Did something break on the pressure plate or something? Clutch going out is usually a gradual thing.

I would say its defective, or that person that installed it for me did something wrong.
In some way I wish it would have been the LSD since its under warranty, but the clutch I have to pay for it.
No idea what happened to be honest, it never slipped before, just died out of nowhere, not even racing at the time.

Could you get some pics when it's out to see exactly what happened? Sorry to hear by the way.

Either it was a defect or you had a fake clutch. There's a few fake clutches floating on Ebay.

worse yet, he might have n00bed himself by buying a non-turbo protege clutch which is just a stock replacement for those cars!

or
1. whoever machined the flywheel, did it incorrectly.
2. didn't machine the flywheel at all.
3. you ride the clutch pedal, the pedal modulation is different than the stock MSP clutch.

the person that did my clutch did NOT machine the flywheel, just took the old clutch and put the exedy in.
clutch was bought from protegegarage, so it wasnt a fake one.
I dont ride on the clutch lol

why didnt they resurface the flywheel?
I have had the stock exedy clutch which never broke. Replaced it once with another exedy before i needed to, still riding with it no probs.
But I personally can't wait for my clutch to go out or LSD. So I can replace them both same time. Or go open differential for awhile with a brand new clutch.

And since your in florida. and if you don't have the cash for a brand new one right now. I'll give you my original OEM clutch which is still good if you want it. Let me know and we can meet up.

That wasn't to smart of that person or you for not having it done. Cost $25-$50 depending on who you know and were you go to have it resurfaced. Aren't those exedy stg 1 like $350 or so?
Whatever set you go with make sure you either replace or resurface the flywheel.

NOT resurfacing the flywheel (properly) or replacing it WILL void the warranty of the clutch
because the lazy asshole didn't do that, he needs to take responsibility of your fucked up clutch

the guy that did my clutch is a scumbag, wont go back to him again for anything. He messed up a few bolts too, which the mechanic that changed my motor had to take out and stuff.
nvmsp thanks a lot for your offer, as soon as I find out whats going on monday Ill let you know. I appreciate your offer, how many miles on it?
I'm selling a used Exedy Stage 1 and OEM flywheel for cheap. Low miles on it and in great shape.

To be honest I can't recall. It's been a long time, I know that the rivets are still there and there is still life left on that clutch. Never started to slip ever. And I changed it because I thought it was slipping but that turned out to be a bad wastgate giving me no boost.

There you go installer error. Go make that shop pay for your clutch. Go print the instruction sheet that states to machine the flywheel.
