Mazdaspeed Protege vs Rx-8

So my buddy has a stock rx-8 and wants to race me, but before i start talking shit i wanna make sure i can beat him. So to my car i have a kinetic FMIC, Unichip at 10psi, CAI, and vibrant 3" turbo back exhaust. Has anyone ever raced on cause i heard they were fast or does anyone know for a fact i would smoke him????

i smoked one with 9.5 psi and a SMIC and a catless mid pipe from a dig...

on the top he maybe could have got me.. but not sure..

one thing i do know, , they go no torque but the gears are long since they rev to 9000K

but there no "ferocity" in them.. they just braaaaap longer in the gears.

well i got a buddy that has a cobalt ss running 15psi, full exhaust CAI and water meth. he had the car dynoed and it was 302whp and i can beat him till about 100mph then hes got the top end.so i should have no problem??? im gonna have to let all you know when i do this. he said he wants to race on monday.

Your buddy with the Cobalt must not know how to drive. I have raced one before and he just kept slowly pulling on me. I was at 14 psi, don't know what was done to his car..

You should be able to beat the RX-8.

if you are going from a dig you should bet something like a tank of gas. you should have no problem beating a stock rx-8

I agree as well even with intake and exhaust they are slow as poo. Theres a 40th anniv. one i raced with above said mods, I laughed when it took off i could have stopped after 2nd gear.

yeah i beat one when all I had was drop in filter, hot pipe, and exhaust.. they're really not too quick stock

I agree. Even stock vs. stock the MSP already makes more torque. At 10psi you really shouldn't have a problem. Good luck.

you will destroy him.. take it from a prev rx8 owner.. i rate 15.2 in rx8 1/4 and 14.05 ish in the msp... and you have more mods than i have.. he will prolly get you right off the line since we spin like hell.. but once you get traction.. you will easily pull it!

If he has an automatic transmission, you would smoke him.
The 0-60 time for Automatic RX-8 is around 7.5 seconds.

The Manual RX-8 can do it in 5.9 seconds.

A Stock Mazdaspeed Protege does it in 7.1 seconds.
It would be a close race if he had the manual transmission.

0-60mph in 5.7 seconds. Faster than the older Dodge Neon SRT-4 and as fast as the Mazdaspeed 3.

You mean, as a fast as the older SRT4 and faster than the MS3. Though the difference in acceleration figures in those 3 cars in absolutely minimal.....

2.0L direct injection 260hp motor in the cobalt. the caliber uses a 2.4L making about 300hp at the crank (look at the dyno's the engine is under-rated)

It's possible. It would probably have to be a stage 1 though. I have beaten a few lightly modified ones.

I beet a 300m once...... the guy thought he can take a import with a Tuned 300m ( he gained 46 HP from it though LOL) but its still a boat. cant handle and isnt fast LOL (idhitit)

Well i had a friend of mine with an srt4 claiming that i would have no chance k. He had at the time: Huge fmi, type S bov, TBE, CAI, boosting 18psi and i can't remember what else. I had: Perrin fmi with hks bov vented, vibrant exhaust, gt28rs at 10psi, home made sri, and splitsecond with super stock map. So he desided that we should go and race, we race like 3 times and i took his ass by 2 cars. But than again is all about the driver

Yeah, those SRT-4's are very quick.
But adding 30-40HP to your msp should make it quicker than a stock SRT-4, or very close.

Yeah I admire the strength of the SRT4 and the fact you can make it like 500whp and still be under warranty is insane. I just can't get over how ugly they are in stock form. Some with carbon fiber hood, trunk, rims, lowered, and dark tint is something I could get used to driving everyday. However, I wouldn't want to dump that much money into the exterior of a car to enjoy looking at it though.
