Hey all My name is Eric and i just picked up an 02 p5 w/90k on the odometer from a friend of mine, so i'm new to mazdas.* It has side air-bags and abs (rockon), which i hear is a rare combo. It'll be my family hauler and so far i see it doing a damn good job at that.My fun car/beater is a 97 integra gsr.so far i've gotten a lot of good information from here, i look forward to hangin around.
pics, with newly repainted front end and totally stock

As soon as I get the hood, bumper and fenders back from the painter, i'll get some pics up. Right now, it's looking a little goofy with no front end. To be honest i didn't even think of goldeneye when i made it, I'm very white and my last name is Knight. but hey, i'll roll with it.
welcome. what color do you have?
Paint code 16w which i do believe is black pearl clear (dunno) correct me if i'm wrong.
thanks for the warm welcome everyone.

Looks good, what happened to the old front end?

it had a ton of paint chips, so i had the whole front end repainted and armor coated. all for a whopping $450. I have a friend who works at a honda/mazda body shop. He hooked me up big time the paint matches perfectly and the armor coat looks just like clear coat, can't even tell its there.

Welcome to the boards! Love to see another black P5 around here! Very nice looking car. I'd like to see another pic of your 'half rack' you've got on top. Kinda cool looking.
Man, I hear ya about the lots o' paint chips. I'm on the verge myself of trying to figure out if I wanna get it repainted or just get a new hood (carbon fiber, perhaps??). Or if I could find a friend who works in the body shop, that'd be sweet. . . but that probably ain't gonna happen. lol!
There is quite alot of info on these boards and many brains to pick. I know I've picked Ben's brain -TreFlip, two posts up- many times.

thanks for the comments, i'll snag some more pics for you if ya want. Funny thing is that i bought the car like that and i'm with you. It's kinda cool looking, a friend who has a rackless 5, agress also.
I refinished the headlights a few days ago and damn! the whole front end is new!

More pics aren't neccessary. I just wanted to make sure I saw what I thought it was I was seeing.
What do you use on the headlights?? I've tried various products and still get some kinda build-up on it? Your front end looks amazing. Mine, you can pretty much make your own constellations out of or give a kid a crayon and they can do some dot-to-dots.
Sadly, come to find out, I may be needing some new struts here in the near future, so the activity page hood may have to be back burnered for a while. Wife suggests I take a sharpie and some finger nail clearcoat stuff and fill in the chips. Ugh.
Nice ride,

well just this last time i did the ol wet sand with 800, 1000, 2000 process and then used some plasix or plastX whatever it is from mothers. Seems to be doing well, of course its been 4 days :)
Again thanks for the comment, before i did the repaint the front end was HORRIBLE!! There was no way i was going to let it stay that way and i'm really glad i got it repainted. However, now a can't use my dot-dot creativity.
Bad news about the shocks, i have a feeling i'll be doing mine here real soon plus the rear brakes.....I'm a little apprehensive about a 2000mi road trip coming up here in the next day or two. Wish me luck, hopefully it'll still be a nice ride afterwards.....btw i am jealous, i only have one car seat.
