Hi! My name is April.
I just bought a 1999 Protege SE today. Long story short, its throwing a code "PO1174". No one knows what it means, and the car has no power in 2nd at all! I was just wondering if anyone could help me out in anyway as to what the code means, or where I can find the meaning of codes!
anyways, thanks a lot!

Are you sure the code is PO1174 or is it PO174

well the place where I bought it wrote it down as PO1174. so I figured that was right but nothing comes up anywhere when I seach for it. So its possible it is PO174. they wrote that and "system lean" and I have no idea what that means, I assume it is a fuel thing. but I'm not sure

P0174= System too lean bank 2,
You may have a vacuum leak, get a can of spray gumout, spray the vac lines and manifold area, when the idle changes, youve found the leak. You need to have engine running and spray on the outside but do direct the stream onto the hoses, if it is a vacuum leak, the engine idle will change speed, then you have detected a leak. If you do not find a leak you may need a new idle air control valve.
