Can I buy a dashhawk anywhere or is there specific software for a Mazdaspeed3? I thought they were universal and would read the ECU for whatever car, but then I got confused because I heard that there were different versions.

Thanks in advance

you can buy the dashhawk from anywhere. its already programmed to read all cars with obd2 ports. I take mine from my speed to my girls impreza with no problems. it knows by the vin what car you have and what sensors to look for. just keep up with software updates from the dashhawk forums.

Thanks, I'd like to use it in my wife's WRX, too. Thats good to know. Every now and then I'll see a used one a forum that maybe not from a Mazda. I basically need to find a version 2 Dashhawk and then download the updated software, right?

Buy it! The dashhawk is fantastic for reasons you probably already know. I use mine mainly for:
- gauges - iat, boost, temps, etc
- staggered shift lights
- datalog

All I had to do was download and usb the newest software. So far, not a single issue!!

I was holding off on the Dashhawk because I did not know much about it and I was thinking about getting an AP. It'll probably be awhile before I get the AP since the gains and benefits aren't as good as Cobb does with the WRX.

The Dashhawk seems like a fun as useful mod and the way to go for me!

I guarantee that it is both fun and useful! (hump)

Well I got mine for FREE so beat that!!! LOL naw for real Ken Mosher and the boys at MSD hooked me up with one when I took my car to Ft Collins for them to test with. My car was the basis for the 2.4 beta 10 upgrade that had the Mazdaspeed3 specific pids. But who's bragging... LOL

On the real tho congrats on your purchase, you wont regret it. Ive loved mine since I got it. Enjoy.
