Hi...

My name is Isabelle

I have a Protege 2003...

Got my new engine changed in january cause it blew up, but was under warranty...

60 000km in total

But now....it keeps on stalling in traffic, and then when I try to start it again.....won't do nothing.....for like 10 min...and then it will strat fine....after a while it will stall again....


grrr

I get off of the highway, slow down and everything and paff....stalls....takes me hours to start again...


HELP PLEASE


somebody has a clue...already brought it to the dealership and they can't find nothing...and it can work fine for like 2-3 days....and start acting up again after that.....any clue ?

Does it only stall when warm or doesn't matter the temp of the engine?

Edit: Have they checked the fuel system out completely? fuel pump, fuel presure regulator ect ect

Stalls when warm.....then takes a while before I can restart...cause it just doesn't want to fire up

Catalytic converter possibly. If it going bad, the car will run when the temp is cool. Once the car gets hot, it will stall/stumble/die and not want to start back up until the temp has dropped.

Apparently...it would always be there...the problem....

Me...can work fine for 2-3 days....then...boom....fucks up

Have you had someone check the ingition system when it wont start for spark?


Catalytic converter possibly. If it going bad, the car will run when the temp is cool. Once the car gets hot, it will stall/stumble/die and not want to start back up until the temp has dropped.

Could be coil packs to from my experiences. I could drive all the way home at night without a issue but during mid day the car would get a multi cycl misfire. However that still throws codes and generally started right back up for me so i dont think thats it.

if it is the cat, you'd be under warranty for that too, so at least it wouldn't cost you anything!

EGR stickin open when hot = stall

Also explains the intermitance

If the car is under warranty.. Take it to the dealer and stop guessing.

Let them deal with it...

They can't figure it out either...

they say EGR would give me a check engine ...

would it ?

only when the EGR goes into PID test. Which is on decel while in gear (steady decel)

So if it works when it tests it wont throw a code.

EGR=CEL is not always true... When i start idling rough i shoot some carb cleaner down the EGR hole in the TB and it clears up. I have not a CEL for it yet.
