So I test drove a MS3 recently and I was very impressed, however in order for me to buy one I need to unload my Ford Excursion tank. Since the price has dropped like a rock I need to go a little cheaper hence the MSP.

I really like the looks, the gas mileage and the fun factor.

I have read the FAQ's and I understand what is common to go stock. Besides these items what should I be looking for. I would prefer to buy a stock unmodified car as I do not want to buy a car that has been beat to death.

However you may say that I am crazy...

What should I stay away from and what should I not be afraid of?

dont be afraid of aluminum hardpipes or cold air intakes/short ram intakes. If it has a larger turbo or has forged rods just know the person who had it was running high boost and speed. other than that make sure that if it has a blowoff valve instead of the stock bypass valve the maf sensor has been relocated or you may have stalling issues. if it has a blowoff valve and a stock bypass valve that is fine. Other than that you should be fine, make sure that the price allows you to make the mods you want to the car.

Mazda Protege engines can take a beating so you don't need to worry.

There are less than 6000 MSP's in America so if you find one, buy one.

They are the best handling FWD sedans ever made. They handle better than some supercars like Porsche and Ferrari.

Hmmm guess he didn't read about the FS-DE and the chopstick rods.

The MSP is reliable at stock boost, but if you start modding it you need supporting mods as well.
