Just curious because I had not heard much about it until I picked up the August issue of Sport Compact Car. Very nice numbers!!!
Everyone should pic up the August issue and turn to page 96 and go here: http://www.tripointengineering.com/information.php?osCsid=145dfe161ac1079f5e24f17ffa4 0d17c&info_id=1

Yes, we are launching our kit right now.
Also, next month SCC will have on-track test results of the Turbo Kit 3, a Stock 3 and the Mazdaspeed 3.

No, we did not flash the factory ECU. We are using the O2 sensor for our tunning.

I just got my SCC mag and read your article first. Looks very sweet but my dilema is that I have a Mazdaspeed 3. Do you think your manifold will fit on the DI head with that external wastegate provision? We could deffinatly use another manifold option for upgrading turbos.

I would love to see you develop a manifold/turbo for the Mazdaspeed3...

To bad its no good for the 2.0L or I would be all over this.

it would physically bolt to the 2.0

considering its basically the same as what 'manumatic' protege transmissions were, i would say 8psi max

Oh I assume it would have no problem with the hardware.
But the tuning would not work, correct?. I would consider it if I had tuning experience. And I would be curious how using the 2.3L tune as a base would work, but I also have a 04 2.0L that lacks the VVT.
Little much for me to risk my DD without approval from the manufacturer.

the tuning would actually be fairly close. it would probably be more conservatively tuned in terms of fuel and timing thanks to your drop in displacement. my experience tells me that any shop local to you would be able to tune out the adjustments in less than a few hours.

But the 2.0L has a higher compression, 10.0 right?
Perhaps I may take the plunge though and give it a shot in the near future then.

correct, 10:1 for the 2.0 and 9.7:1 for the 2.3
the 2.0 does have a shorter stroke however

Tri-Point: after installing this kit in my car early in 2009, my Mazda3 will be seeing open track day time. Does this kit eliminate (or at least significantly raise) the stock speed governed 118 M.P.H. top speed?

Ya, I was going to say something about that too! I read that and that's the shit. My wife drives an 04 Mazda 3s 5dr and the thought of that upgrade is very tempting. I can't wait to see more. Great job guys!

(attn)New SCC came in the mail today. MS3 pwnage on page 76...well maybe not quite but extremely impressive nonetheless.
Overall, this issue is a great Mazda issue with the new Mazda6 info including the future MS6. The MX-5 article is super cool considering you don't see those in any kind of magazines.
Great job Tri-Point on a top notch kit!!!
