Installing Illuminated Door Sills

Hello,

I purchased some illuminated door sills for my Mazda3 Sport but i don't know how to install them. The Mazda3 does not have the door switches like my Protege5 that i can connect the wire to. The Protege5 has a switch that when the door is closed, the door is pushing on the switch, when the door is open, the switch is released and the lights go on. Can't find this on the Mazda3. How does the car know the door is opened?? I need to wire this somehow!!

Any help? Ideas?
