I just wanted to see what people use to restrain their dogs. We have a 5-month-old Rottweiler pup who will probably grow to be upwards of 120 pounds when full-grown. I would really like to secure him in the hatch (not the backseat) for his safety and ours if something ever happened. There are a lot of seatbelt restraints on the market but I haven't found anything specifically for the back of an SUV other than combinging other contraptions to at least let him move around a little bit. Also, it doesn't look like the hooks on either side of the hatch (near the bottom) are strong enough for a large breed dog. Thank you in advance for sharing your thoughts and experiences.

i would say the best bet is a crate/cage/carrier for him in the cargo area. my dog is only 40 pounds, and he just sits in the backseat.

The only issue is that his crate is too big for the back without putting the backseats down. My son would have nowhere to sit.

I noticed you are from Jacksonville area. I am considering moving to Ocala area in may. Someone told me that florida does not have vehicle inspection is this accurate? Heck I would imagine car insurance being high then

Florida doesn't have a vehicle inspection. Insurance actually isn't that high. It depends on where you live. When my brother moved to Tampa from Daytona, his insurance went up. In Jacksonville, I still pay less than $500 bi-annually.
