How much longer do you guys see the Speed3's for sale brand new? I went and checked one out at the dealer tonight and the salesman said that they would be available in 09. From past threads that I have read it seems like you guys don't think new ones will be on the market much longer. Thanks in advance.

Mazdaspeeds have always run a two year production cycle.
I doubt they will deviate from that pattern. *^_^*

Supposedly 2008.5's cannot be ordered anymore and there is no word as to when or if the 2009's are coming out. Salesmen will tell you anything. You'd be lucky if most of them know the name of the car they're selling you. If it is in fact true that this year is the last year, I'm sure they'll be Speed3's on the lots well into the Fall. They're not selling THAT quickly, which is why dealers are giving them away for invoice and below. You're just going to be limited in what colors/trims that'll be available at that time.

Before we continue on yet another thread of "my dealer said this...", let's keep in mind:

You'd be lucky if most of them know the name of the car they're selling you.

They don't know jack shit. Wait until Mazda USA officially releases info.

idk where the hell you see prices like that, but the dealers by my house ask $27,900 for a Sport, and every week or two i go back there, the last ones are gone and the new ones are in... dont think for long though.

I bought mine about 2 months ago. my car was delivered to the dealership on 1/29/08 and i bought it on 5/9/08. it had sat so long the battery had died.

North East New York/New Jersey: invoice or less, been done a few time that I personally know of. Just got to work the deal. If they sell off the lots quick in your region then it's going to be hard to make that kind of deal. It's the old supply and demand and it seems to vary region to region.

just picked mine up yesterday and the sticker price had gone up a few hundred dollars from when i initially ordered it. and right before i drove it off the lot i asked my dealer if there were gonna be 09's and he said yes, and they were going to start taking orders for them in a few months

Yep, Northeast, NJ/NY as said above. I got multiple quotes for invoice without one bit of haggling. Wayne Mazda, who hasn't left me alone for the past 3 weeks, calling me everyday on my cell phone, thank you, is giving them away for about $500 UNDER invoice, but they've got almost 20 of them on their lot. I wound up not buying from them because they're 2 hours away from me and the dealer I did buy my GT from for $23.6k, gave me free oil changes for as long as I own the car. Not sure I'm going to use the oil changes though, as they only change it every 7,500 miles with conventional oil.

is anyone else pissed off that there are so many of these cars in production now?

i thought it was really cool being part of the 5000 speed3's in the states in 07. then there were 08's and then 08.5's with a fucking mp3cd player...

now, there's talk of an 09 model. STOP MAKING THE CAR!!!!!!!! hopefully it's a 2 year thing...we'll see...

on a side note, does anyone know how many speed3's were made for the 08 and 08.5 years?

5000 cars per year is NOTHING. That's abit under 1,000 per state. I guess it depends on where you live, but here in NJ, where there are millions of cars on the road per day, I really don't see many MS3's.

Just the opposite. More carcasses to pick apart for parts in the junkyards.

100 cars per state, not 1000. and yes, i realize that is nothing. that is fatastic. now, there's a bunch.

anyone have production numbers?

LOL... I asked my sales person who is number 2 in Detroit Michigan for Mazda sales and she says there is nothing official about an 09 MS3. They go for invoice to sticker here depending on who you know. I do know you can get A plan now on them (supplier discount for a non Ford product). I got my MS3 S for 22500 out the door and ordered it in Aug. 07, picked it up Sept. 28 07.

hahaha, i paid msrp for mine. i didn't care. i didn't haggle, i only negotiated my trade in value. i didn't even negotiate rate, i was just happy i got bought.

i bought this car after selling cars for 18 months as well, so i'm no dummy to the game either, i just wanted the car, and allowed myself to get put together. my salesperson didn't even sell me the car. i sold me the car.

Whatever works. Negotiating the trade is always easier anyway. That is often where they get the $$ to negotiate anyway. I have just always traded in and told them what my payment had to be, they could do it or not.

From What I Heared From 3 Dealers, this Year Is The Last Year...and Mazda Only Produced 5000 Total, For This Car...

phillyb

5000 total for what year?
07 was 5000
08 was a lot more i believe, maybe 15000

At this point, there isn't going to be any serious value to the car later on anyways, so I say build a TON of em, that way we will be able to find parts readily later on :)

Seriously, anyone buying this car with delusions of high book values doesn't know much about japanese cars. Japanese imports are not highly prized and the values are in the dumper with VERY few exceptions. Buy it, drive it, enjoy it. When it goes zoom zoom boom, fix and repeat.

id be somewhat disappointed if they came out with an 09. i had planned on waiting till the spring to order one, but i test drove it then really started thinking about how all signs pointed to them discontinuing it after this year. also, as mentioned before, prices weren't too bad here in NY when i bought it. i'd be kinda pissed if the 09 does come out with some sweet new options and upgrades.

on the other hand, i'll be glad to have had the car for the extra 9 months to drive between now and when i was planning on getting it. its still a hell of an upgrade from the last ride, as much as i liked it.

Rumor has it that there's going to be an AWD version of the speed3 for 09.5 / summerish. It said to have a starting price at around 27k for sport and 28.5k for GT. Engine output will get a significant increase in performance via upping the boost from 15.6 PSI to 17.4 PSI and coming standard with a new Mazdaspeed SRI intake system. Est. HP will be 305 while torque is said to be around 330ft/lbs.

God would this suck :(

Now this is funny if it's true. That engine wont last through the warranty, unless they make drastic improvements to the fuel pump and further adjustments to the rods/wrist pins/pistons.......

Now that would be an amazing vehicle!!! Supposedly there has been sightings of a Mazdaspeed2 doing heat testing in death valley. MS0377 may I ask the source where you got that info. Man oh Man would I love to see Mazdaspeed make a vehicle that competes with the Lancer Evolution.

having one thats evo-esque would definitely be cool, but it'd probably be quite a different car at that point. i got mine because for about $24k otd, it has an incredible bang-for-the-buck factor on it. i would have really had to have stretched my pockets and my skewed sense of reality to justify buying a near $30k car at this point, so im happy sticking with the 263 hp and fwd.

i'd be a shitty driver if i couldnt find enough fun to be had with that... or completely spoiled.

Im hoping they do continue building into the '09 model year, just more incentive for the aftermarket to make parts for this car. One of my biggest gripes about the MS3 is a shitty aftermarket that I think is largely due to manufacturers not wanting to develop and build parts for a car that will be discontinued after 2 years! You cant swing a dead cat without hitting a new part or vendor in the Subaru world...

well if they continue or not I just hope the financing goes through on mine and I'm paying below invoice on a pre 08.5 (early 08 model) its been sitting on the lot for a while. And what the only difference is radio and lighted vanity mirrors? If someone could clear that little ibt up for me that would be appreciated

the 08.5 gets exclusive piano black trim on the dash and door panels, alcantara suede-like seat inserts instead of the grey fabric, cd player plays mp3. I think that about covers the major differences.

Supposedly 2008.5's cannot be ordered anymore and there is no word as to when or if the 2009's are coming out.

According to my window sticker & owner's manual, they are out. Probably pretty much identical to the 08.5's, but they are being sold as 2009's, which means there's probably not a significant revision due before the 2010 model year 3's come out with their completely new look.

someone willing to negotiate could find a good deal in central florida. I know personally that a certain dealership on semoran blvd has in stock several 2008 (pre mid year switch) in black mica with silvery seat inserts on their GT models. These cars were sitting there when I purchased my 2008.5 fresh off the truck in april. and are still sitting there now. This is prime 2009 buying time guys, so an early 08 is just a sitting duck for steep steep discounts.

I'm actually going to that certain dealership on semoran today. If it all works out I might have me an MS3 today, which is totally awesome.
