ok, I would like to finally be able to clarify exactally what the differences are between the cams....tried searching and I didn't really come up with much

I know the 2.0L n/a protege cams are the same as the mazdaspeed protege cams, however the mazdaspeed familia (the japanese n/a one) has different cams, correct?

and a few questions about them:
are both cams different? where can you locate the cams from that motor? how much do you need to advance/retard the timing on each side for a turbo application instead?

and lastly, as far as the twiggy cams are concerned, which are more aggressive? (or does anyone know the specs for each?)

any help here would be greatly appreciated =)

hmmm

FS-ZE exhaust cam = FS-DE T exhaust cam
FS-ZE intake cam (Not same) FS-DE T intake cam

CS - has the intake cam from FS-ZE thats an upgrade for FS-DE T , this upgrade has the same specs for intake cam as exhaust cam on FS-DE T.

Twiggy cams - they way more aggressive but not many know the specs except for the man who made them and the ausi moderator.
My guess would be they some like 270* neighborhood.
From what i remember the intake overlaps the exhaust cam + you can play with cam gears adj. to make it work just like you want them to.

yup , that sound about right.

Just surprised that twiggy cams are only 252/254 deg.

thanks for the info!

appreciate it =)

however earlier I did some more researching and came across one little correction, the fs-ze intake cam is not the same as the msp cam....its actually almost identical to the fs-ze exhaust cam

http://www.protegefaq.net/engine.html#FS-ZE

according to that the exhaust cam is the same as the msp (almost at least) on the regular fs-ze, and on the mazdaspeed familia fs-ze its the same as the intake cam (almost)

I really do appreciate the information though!

I may actually have a lead on a set of twiggys, hmmm.....I might wind up getting those instead

anyone know what the hp gains are with the twiggys?

FS-DE T exhaust cam is supposed to be 241 deg , right ??
Is that info right or misplaced ??
