I envy you guys so much. I just came back from Germany.. Spangdahlem specifically. I didn't have the car then, but I'm sure it would have been great. The autobahn is just a mile or so from the front gate at Spang. I'd be flying all over that place. I had a BMW 525 and a Audi 100 and drove the hell out of them. Oh, remember to race your car around Nurburgring. Last time I was there, it was like .. 12 or 15 euro.

Hi guys,
I just signed up here and found the Germany thread. I'm German, so I grew up on the Autobahn.
My husband works as a civilian for the Army in Mannheim. We also ordered a MS3 so there will be one more here...
I just recently saw a MS3 in Mannheim with Heidelberg license plates.
MXchaos, did you order through Autoexchange? When? And what did they tell you when to expect it?

hey,
i ordered early march and i just got to know that the car was built on june 6th, but it won't leave the States till August 18th, so the estimated delivery to Germany will be second week of september...
mxchaos, I guess we gotta be patient!
I have never seen the Mazda MPS (German one) except at the dealer and I have been paying attention since february...theyre pretty rare.
Engulfinflames,
are you excited to come to Germany? Are you going to MA or HD?

I left Germany 7 months ago.
Here's a hint.
On 3 lane autobahn roads you can usually get to 140+mph without worrying about a trucker cutting you off. But be very alert.
On 2 lane autobahn roads I recommended no faster than 120mph, otherwise you'll probably cook your brakes as the truckers, especially eastern-block, love cutting right in front of you to pass up the "slower" truckers.
Be smart, stay alive.
I so miss the autobahn. With gas prices as high as they are it'll be tough, but try a Cannonball Run from K-towne to the Czech border. If you get anything under 3 hours, you're the $hit. I'm pretty sure the Germans have a site (in German) that posts times, but I couldn't find it. Stelina? Maybe you know.

HA i have orders for heidleburg in december :D I have a protege5 though

Sorry, I looked, but couldnt find anything really, sorry.
Heidelberg is nice, I go to college there everyday. Unfortunately the A5 is always crowded when Im going, so no speeding there, but probably better for my mileage... still more than 2 months to go...

i was born in Austria and my father currently lives there... he told me the mps cost 30000-35000 euros is that true? and if thats the case why don't you order from here and sell it over there? you'll make some profit (drinks)(naughty)
Stelina
07-07-2008, 02:45 PM
i just built one online on the German website, for a brandnew mps with all possible options it's 31.150,00 € which is 48 871,235 U.S. dollars! Incredible huh? Everything here is just so much more expensive (argh)
anyway, I think importing is more worth if you buy more expensive cars because you would have to pay quite a bit for import tax, 19 % Sales Tax
and so on...

saw a red one in Mannheim on post today...I guess there are quite a few :-)
My car will leave the US port on August 14...I think/hope I'll have it by the middle of september...wohoo....

Germany folks,
I may be moving out to Frankfurt this summer. I have a new 08 MS3 and want to take it over there, but am concerned about my warranty. Were any of you able to to transfer your MazdaUSA warranty so that you can use it in Europe? Right now MazdaUSA says my warranty is no good in Europe and that I am pretty much out of luck and if my car dies over in Europe.

you dont wanna see the gas mileage while driving like a constant 145 mph ;-) It's fun though (yippy) It's nice keeping up with other fast cars...
Psycho_maz: I asked my husband as well, he says the warranty is world wide, you just have to go through auto exchange like I explained in the other thread

We picked up the car on September 15 and have now 10.300 miles on it :)
Mileage went up to 23.9 now, but I don't speed all the time of course. Overall very satisfying, love the Autobahn :)
I have seen a black MS3 at Mannheim just recently. Do your parents drive it or is it just sitting there?

Any military folksin Germany have problems registering their cars with window tint? I heard that any tint on the front windshield, front driver or front passenger is illegal in germany and will fail military vehicle inspection to register the vehicle. (I have 35% all around...not on windshield of course.)
Also, the sound limit is 95 decibals. Has anyone had any probs with MS3 stock exhaust with the polizei or military?
This link is dated but I am worried it still applies:

almberg32
02-16-2009, 08:33 PM
it's true that you can't have any tint on your passanger or drivers window. i don't know about the windshield though. if you get it inspected in the summer just roll ur windows down during the inspection. thats what i did. they shouldn't be too anal about the inspection since its a new car.
Stelina
02-18-2009, 03:15 AM
Yea, they changed that like 2 years ago or so...
My husband drives a S2000, and 2007 they didn't say anything, but then the 2008 inspection they made him take it off :(
That's why I havent tinted my windows on the mazda so far, because I think if I did it, I'd want it on all of he windows.
In Germany youre allowed to tint the windows, just not the driver's and passenger window and of course the front windshield.
You can only have tint in the front if it's factory tint.

when my 08 got here, I didnt even have to inspect it, and i have 20% all around except the windshield. The guys at POV shipping said i would have to take it off, but its been 3 months, and they are still on. I'm pretty sure my car is over 95db. Everytime i pass by the vehicle reg place, the guy looks out and stares. like "who the hell passed that guy?!?!"
Stelina
02-18-2009, 04:17 AM
haha cool.
you're right though. I forgot, new cars don't need an inspection for 3 years. so yes, I could put it on right now, but would have to take it off in 2011 then. I don't think they say anything, only at the inspection place, because they might think it's factory and that's why you passed.
I have to pack my bags now, we're going to Florida tomorrow - wohoo...not great weather there, but much better than here :)

I am going to Spang in June, i was curious what everone is paying for Insurance and what company they use? I got a quote... it was $255 per month with USAA. I am only 21 and i have the Mazda6s
Stelina
04-02-2009, 03:32 PM
We pay 141 a month, USAA as well. We get a few discounts because my husbands car is also insured with USAA and he turned 25 last year.
It might be cheaper as well right now because until midnight we have a 3rd car insured, which we just sold last week.
We're really happy with USAA. Someone scratched my car when we had just gotten it (didnt find the guy) and they paid immediately.
I need advice on wheels! I"m thinking about ordering the OZ Ultraleggera in black, what do you guys think? I've looked at so many pictures but it's hard to decide.
EDIT: Now with 2 cars insured it's 162 a month.

It's been a year since I left Spang, but I still have fond memories of the place. The nice thing about USAA is that they are automatically connected with the car registration on base. You might try geico or progressive? I paid almost nothing because all I had was an old car with liability. Oh, remember to get an international license and go watch movies in Luxembourg. June is good timing, lots of festivals coming up. Make sure you go to pigfest in wittlich and rockamring at the nurburgring. No speed limit right out the main base onto the autobahn. Fun times.

I think the Ultraleggeras are great for the MS3. You might want to act soon because I think they're phasing them out for those newer OZ wheels.

I'm almost sure that I'm gonna order the OZ's later tonight :)

Does anyone know for sure about the whole 95 decibal policy? I was thinking about putting the Magnaflow exhaust system, CAI, and new wheels and tire on my Mazda 6s when i got home from Korea, (warranty expires end of this month) but dont want to waste my money on the exhaust if it is too loud and have to replace it... or maybe a way to 'temporarily' fix it?

Hello everyone!!
I'm selling my Mazdaspeed3 2008!! If anyone is interested, send me a message for more details.
The car is well maintained and in great condition. The only reason I'm selling it, is that I have been commuting to Frankfurt for work by train for a year now so I hardly ever drive the car anymore.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the sunny weather in Germany!
