more or less unless someone gives some KB's up in the F/S section, OEM is just fine

I think OEM is OK, but I also think the middle section of my exhaust is sagging a bit. Maybe these hangers would prevent the sagging. Not sure.

im getting a vibrant exhaust sometime this week and ill be getting the corksport motar mounts and was thinking id get the hangers as well, that a good idea, or do the OEM ones work fine.. i dont mind spending a little more money to do it right so there will be no banging/problems later on.

just spend the money. its better you did now than worry about it later, and youll like that your exhaust isnt banging around...

You'll definitely need the Corksport hangers, or some kind of urethane replacement. If you use the stockers, your midpipe will vibrate against the crossmember when you accelerate or at low RPMs.

also when installing the hangers lube them up really good or you will have a horrible time getting them on.... i muscled 2 of them on and i had to push so hard it literally felt like my eye balls were about to pop out lol....and im 6'3 220lbs. and i bench 250....

lol, ok thats what i was looking for, sounds good then, now just to convince myself to spend the cash on all of it.. but that shouldn't be too hard, im pretty good at it anyway

I got them..they hold great, no exhaust movement BUT you'll get alot more in cabin exhaust drone/vibration with them.

If oem will do...don't bother.

You probably need an adjustment...something is hitting somewhere.

Exhaust hanger puller = your friend.
I can barely bench press the bar and I had everything off in 5 minutes.

the KB/CS hanger does bring the exhaust up.. maybe a little too much. Your bumper lip will melt. Get heat tape to cover up the bumper part above the exhaust tip.

Well, that sucks, I guess I'll have them sit on the shelf in my room and look at them, and polish them every so often. (hahaspit)

So I guess it sounds like they're a total failure.

Here I go again: "OEM, because it works."

you dont need a hanger puller, didnt know they existed but anyways...just cut the OEM ones off with a razor or box cutter and lube the new ones up with WD-40, not THAT difficult, more a physical challenge

I was more angry with the bumper melting than anything.

Hey that's awesome, I've always wanted that exhaust, but went for the "budget" option instead.

damn, i gotta get my car to the dealership soon, mine already melted and slid off partially, i had told them to check it when it was in there for the turbo work, but i forgot to mention that it was the lip of the bumper and not the actual bumper itself because they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with it lol, hopefully they know that its a common mistake or something and possibly covered under warranty or at least pretty cheap

So this happened due to the hangers being too tight?

yes but yours isn't an msp with a lower rear lip

Sv just put the exhaust on!!! U will barely even see the heat tape. It works wonders. Don't have to worry about it afterwards.

A canister exhaust will do fine with the 03.5 MSP lip. I have the Vibrant installed on mine and the top crest of the tip makes contact with the lip. It has NOT melted. The only thing that's happened is some burnt paint and plastic. The damage isn't even noticeable unless you are two feet away from the car looking down at the tip & lip from above. I'll get pics this evening, but really, it's nothing to worry about.

Oh no not at all, its just because of the double sided tape that it comes with, i still have my stock exhaust on and it had seperated, i just need to get the dealership to fix it, im hopeing they might put a screw or 2 in somewhere if not thats fine also, i will prob. use the heat tape when i do get my exhaust, its pretty far away but still melted it (sorry if they are big, they seemed fine on my comp's program, not sure if they turn up a lot bigger)

Got it, so it seems more of a problem with the lip.

I forgot to measure the stocks while I had them off yesterday and I want to order urethanes, does anyone know the size? Maybe 10mm?

SpeedAdiction20
09-22-2008, 06:25 PM
not sure, but if you go to corksport they have hangers that you need for the msp, they work very well, they might have the size on the website, but not sure

i'm pretty sure i found the answer I was looking for... i know corksport has hangers, but I wanted to know the sizes... If what i read is correct, the two hangers for the muffler are 12mm and the two up by the cat are 10mm
